You know nothing about your life when you were very young. Your mother just doesn't talk about it. You're OK since you have your plants and they are what matter to you. Even your marriage was not as important as your beloved plants. Then, there is a need to know what happened to you when you were young. You are involved in an almost fatal accident and your ex-husband, a former star wrestler, is asked by your mother to come protect you, then she disappears. Then there is a car pulled from the depths that has a man in it...dead for a long time...but his life circles around to yours. Whew... This was a fun and suspenseful book. We get to re-visit the town of Gothic with it's kind of spooky reputation. The quirky folks of the town are all in with the town's rumors. An artifact is sent via the USPS, but is delivered to another person since the whole town knows you've been in an accident. I like to get set up with a drink, a blanket, and a relaxing place to sit and read Ms. Dodd's books. I was not disappointed in this latest town of Gothic revisit.

Wow! I must admit the first few pages were hard to get into, but when I really grabbed onto the story, it grabbed me! Gothic is a strange and unusual town, but a small quiet town, that is until things started to go sideways for resident Zoe. She is a very dedicated and scientific plant and flower grower, then someone starts trying to murder her! Two different suspense and murderous situations, not related, keeps Zoe and her ex Luca on red alert. There were lots of characters that kept me guessing right up to the end. Who were the culprits and what was their agenda? It was a total surprise for this reader and I loved it! I received a complimentary copy of this novel from the publisher but was not required to write a review.
