A: Hi Heather, Freshpet uses only muscle and organ meats held to higher quality standards and have never been pre-processed as it is more nutrient dense and easier for our pets to digest. We also choose to never use any “chicken meal” or “meat meals.” Meat meals can include varying types and qualities of meat and waste products, are highly processed, and can have a shelf life longer than a year. Q: What would your suggestion be if the ration would be to feed this as a half kibble/half fresh for a 30 lb dog. What about if feeding as a topper along with kibble?

A: Whenever a change in diet is made, it must be done gradually. This helps avoid the digestive upsets and food refusals, which can occur if a diet is changed too quickly. We use this as a topper. It has many good foods in this package. But having very large dogs it’s not cost affective. Everything seems to be better for the small dogs. Will this ever change ?

Our little old doggy had been on a hunger strike for months… we assumed maybe the end was near for our little girl. We tried so many things, but she is so picky. Happy to report that we are now on our 3rd bag of this!!!!!! She dives right in… breakfast and dinner!!! And her trips to the bathroom have been… healthier! Carrageenan is a known carcinogenic and is NOT recommended to consume. Freshpet remove this ingredient. This carcinogenic can cause inflammatory symptoms as noted in some of the reviews. Please do the research on ingredients. I bought this, my dogs loved it but I am not buying anymore!!

Louie stopped eating and he was diagnosed with lung cancer - doctors gave him entyce to try to help. Nothing worked well enough. They said he’d only last a couple of days. I tried cooking special diet for him and although he would eat a bit he didn’t beg for it like he does the home style creations. He loves it and in 13 years I have never seen him devour his meal along with the stuff that spilled out of the bowl. I haven’t had to give him the Entyce to get him to eat and he’s acting like himself again. Thank you for making these final months with him much more satisfying for him.

This made my dog sick. He was apprehensive about eating it but he kept throwing it up! I had to take him to the vet because of it. It also smells disgustingly strong and nasty!

For the last few months my wife and I have tried everything to get our MinPin to eat. He is 14 and very picky. Along with that he has chronic pancreatitis. He got to the point that he was barely eating and didn’t even want fresh cooked chicken breast. We thought we were losing him because he got so weak he could barely walk. Then my wife brought home Fresh Pet, and the moment he sniffed it he started scarfing it down. Its been a week and he’s an entirely new dog. He hops around like a puppy again, he’s eating every bite of every meal, and just seems to have a ton of energy again. Our vet told us that at this point we could just feed him anything, expecting the worst, but now that we found fresh pet, we have our little buddy back. Thanks for making such a great product!!!

My pup is a super picky girl and is very finicky when it comes to food. it usually takes me a while to find something she likes, so when I do, I tend to stick to it. I tried this brand since all of the ingredients were fresh, and she ate it as soon as I put the bowl down. I love how you can tell which ingredient is what. There’s no discolored chunks or unidentifiable kibble. I know what’s going in my pups tummy and she loves it which makes me happy. definitely will be adding this into our food rotation!

My wheaten terrier has been picky about her food, and has a very sensitive stomach. I've tried a variety of things with limited success, and then I found Freshpet Homestyle Creations. WOW! She gets so excited for meal time, licks her bowl clean, and has solid poops. Also started to notice that her skin and coat were clearing up, and she seemed to scratch less. It smells so good, and I can see the visible nutrition of the ingredients. The price is reasonable, and I can get it at my local Petsmart. Never going back–she's a happy girl!
