submitted bySharon - 4 years agoA: I started to freeze it, then defrost the amount that I was going to use. My dogs get so excited when it's time to eat . before they won't touch it after three days so I would have to throw it away.

A: Hi Rick, our Fresh From The Kitchen Home Cooked Recipe 1.75 lb bag has about: 7 cups per bag and the 4.5 lb bag has: 17 3/4 cups per bag. How much you need to feed your pup can be found on all of our packages which have feeding guidelines as well as our website. Please visit our website and pick the recipe you are interested in and scroll down to the feeding guidelines. This will give you the suggested guidelines for the daily feeding. Q: If I vacuum seal half of the bag and keep it in the refrigerator, will it last until the sell by date or does it need to be frozen?
A: Hi Bob, thanks for reaching out. All our foods are designed to be served fresh from the fridge. However, you can choose to freeze our bagged meals upon opening for later use. If you keep it in the refrigerator, it must be used within 7 days of opening. Otherwise, it can be frozen till the sell by date. Hope this helps! -Jillian

Q: How long can the 4.5 lb bag be refrigerated?
A: All Freshpet recipes come with a Sell by Date. You can safely store the recipe in your refrigerator unopened until that date. Once opened you need to use the recipe within 7 days. While our recipes are made to be served fresh from the fridge, you can feel free to freeze any unused portions upon opening. Keep in mind texture and moisture levels may vary after freezing, but this will not change the nutritional value of the food. For any unopened recipes, it is best to keep it in the refrigerator until the sell by date stamped on the package. Hope this helps! -Angie
