Q: Does anyone else bag smells? Like after a couple days of opening it starts smelling bad?

A: No, but the smell is a bit stronger after a week. I didn't realize this was a 7 day expiration (I didn't read the bag until 6 days later). The bag lasted 10 days for us but I won't do that again. It does have a strong smell but it's a normal smell.

Q: Can you freeze half of this to make it last for two weeks?

A: Yes. I have two small dogs and they cannot finish a bag in one week. I portion half of the bag and freeze it. The color of the food may change when frozen but it does not affect the product.

I love this food for our 3 1/2 year old Boston Terrier. Her coat has never been this shiny and soft, her poops are solid and she’s not nearly as gassy (as Bostons can be). The food smells fantastic and you can switch it up with some of their other varieties. She absolutely LOVES her food, and kibble is a thing of the past for us. The only two things to be aware of are: 1. The bag lasts almost two weeks for my smaller dog, so if you have a smaller dog freeze half of it. The food does go bad after about a week after opening so freezing it keeps it fresh for her. 1. Beware that dogs need to keep their teeth clean and not having kibble can make it difficult for them to keep their teeth cleaner. Make sure your dog is getting their teeth cleaned in whatever way you see fit, otherwise their teeth can go bad quickly. I feed my dog a daily dental chew and she has chew toys meant to clean her teeth, as well as occasional toothbrushing. Seems to do the trick. Otherwise great product, and I’m so glad we found this for our pup!

Saved my elder dog’s digestion. No more indigestion and she loves it. Now I just need Target to carry Freshpet for cats. Please Target, if you carried Freshpet for cats, you’d become my only grocery store. I’d shop with you weekly instead of monthly. But since I can’t get my cats’ food, I have no reason to visit more than once a month.

The food went bad quickly and had a bad smell I handle noticed until my dog started throwing up. Please do some research on this brand through Reddit.

Fresh dog food but boy does it go bad quickly. Like super quick. I usually split in half and freeze part of it to keep it fresh longer.

We have a 19 year old rescued dog that was suffering from bloody diarrhea and vomiting for more than a year. Thankfully we have a wonderful team of doctors and Lovely was prescribed medication. It would help for a around 5 months and then she will have the episodes again. We started giving her Fresh Pet with her medicines, and it has been a long time since she has had those issues again. Her stool is normal, no vomiting and she has gained healthy weight and has start acting like a new dog. We are so grateful for Fresh Pet and the great quality of food. We have tried the beef, treats and chicken. All of our three rescue dogs love it! We are waiting now for cat food! Haha. Thank you again.
