About this item

Highlights

  • PATENTED 5 STEP SYSTEM: Gradually reduces sucking satisfaction to wean from orthodontic nipple
  • DENTIST DESIGNED: Invented by a pediatric dentist
  • BOOT THE BINKY: Golden ticket for kiddos between 6-18 months. Beyond that, the harder it gets
  • BPA-FREE: Latex-free and BPA-free. Silicone nipples.
  • INCLUDES:  5 orthodontic-shaped dentist-designed pacifiers that get shorter with each step

Description

We've got the weaning process down to a science (literally!) with this 5-step patented system to ditch the pacifier for good. Each paci is progressively shorter - and less satisfying - so baby gives that binky the boot. No kitchen scissors required!

• STEP 1: When baby wants it, baby gets it. Treat the step 1 paci like their usual paci.
• STEP 2: Offer the step 2 paci anytime. Baby may start to notice this isn't their typical paci + want it less often.
• STEP 3: Give the step 3 paci at sleep time + when asked. This is where the real breakup begins.
• STEP 4: Offer the step 4 paci only at sleep. Try your hardest to resist giving it during the daytime.
• STEP 5: Give the step 5 paci only if necessary (tantrum time). Baby should be over it in no time. Buh-bye binky.

The idea of this is a genius one, but the execution is awful. The issues: The pacifiers have a huge bend in them. We previously used Philips Avent Ultra Air, which *is* an orthodontic pacifier, but these Frida pacis are just a really uncommon shape. #1 paci already has a hole in it. 9 month old baby immediately knew it was broken, so there was no way for her to get used to this new paci shape. Worst of all, all the pacifiers smell really strongly of Vicks Vaporub or similar. And this is advertised NOWHERE on the package. My friend also bought this product 1 year ago and confirmed hers smelled like Vicks too, even after multiple hot water washes. Maybe Frida does this to make the pacifiers unappealing, but it’s unacceptable to lace pacifiers with unlisted additives. We are returning the product based on the horrible camphor/Vicks smell.

Poorly designed dummies for babies under 12 months. The shape of the plastic surrounding the dummy Is huge and literally blocks my daughters nostrils. She is 6 months 3 weeks old and this is unusable for us so can't even try currently.

The pacifiers were not compatible to the Mam pacifiers 16+month. They were too small and therefore not a great replacement for us. We actually just followed their system of cutting his own down every two days, and it worked.

Did not work with our 15 month old. She put it in her mouth and instantly knew it was different. We ended up doing it cold turkey and that worked for us. I’ve heard this product works best for younger babes.

I did not understand the weaning for only certain nipples, that’s my fault! I’m sure it works great but my daughter is used to a different kind. I love the frida brand!

I have a very smart two-year-old who is very attached to his Binky at nap and bedtime. He didn’t seem to notice the change to these Binkies much until the very last one when he shouted to us “it’s broken” after bedtime. He still asked for a Binky after we followed all of the steps as written. He may not be as sad as he would’ve been if we did it cold turkey, but I don’t know that it was entirely worth the purchase.

This worked WONDERS for us! Our daughter is just about 2 and was a paci ADDICT. Just loved her paci all the time. We took away all her mam pacis and went only to this. Did 1-2 days per paci and we were totally rid of it day and not within a week! I truly didn’t think it was possible. Highly recommend to anyone ready to say goodbye to the paci! You’ve got this! (:

My almost 2 1/2 year old still has a binki. I read the reviews and thought I’d try this. We are on day 3- started the second step and she already went to bed without the binki!

We started using these right around 18 months and I honestly didn't think this would work. We used each pacifier for about 1.5 weeks each and by #4, my toddler was completely over it. For us, this mom frida system worked.

Worked great for my toddler

This worked great for us. My child at one point had 7 pacis (yes, I'm aware I created a paci monster. It was the only thing that calmed him down and he LOVED them. Plus I was tired of fishing them out from under the crib every night at 2am). We took time to get rid of the car paci and dropped down from 6 crib pacis to just one. My little boy is 2 (26 months if you want to be specific) and he started getting attached to a stuffed animal so I took this as the time to transition out of pacis. This weaning system was great for us. It was not a tear-free process which I expected and the first couple nights he was upset that his paci didn't work BUT it worked wonders in getting us to drop them entirely. To be fair, I don't think it would've worked had he not started showing signs he was ready to let them go. It took about 10 days for him to no longer ask for pacis or look for them. If you have a toddler that's super into pacis and starting to show signs of letting them go, I highly recommend these.

Did not trick my 2 year old. I can’t even show her this pacifier for a second without her saying “NO NO NO NO NO I don’t want it!” Wasted $20.

My 16 month old son is very attached to his binky and needed to have it with his 24/7. I knew I had to wean him off the binky and I saw this on a Target run. I loved the idea that this system had the binkies already cut. Others suggested we cut our own binkies but didn’t want to do that in case weaning failed and we needed them. We started this Sunday, and on the first day my son was confused and frustrated at times. He’s put it in his mouth and then wonder what was wrong with his binky. He carried it around with his but didn’t really use it much. By Tuesday he didn’t need his binky to nap, and by Thursday daycare told me he didn’t use the binky at all all day. He has broken the binky dependency! The system was perfect!

Amazing product

This product is amazing. I scoured the internet for reviews before I purchased so wanted to write a detailed review for the next person wondering about this. I weaned my 20 month old twins from the dummy using this. They were waking up heaps in the night for the dummy and I was over it but it's a tricky age as they wouldn't have understood the dummy fairy etc., and it was too harsh for us to just go cold Turkey. We also really struggled to limit the use of the soother in the day, if it was around or they found one they had it. But this product was amazing. We started with a proper dummy similar shape to these ones and then 2 days on each dummy. They were a little annoyed on the first day as they clearly wanted their other ones but it seemed to be a minor inconvenience for them. Then they adjusted really well as we moved on with the numbers. When we got to number 5 there is nothing to actually suck on, it's just the hard plastic piece so they kinda chewed it etc and then we said all gone! And they threw it in the bin themselves. No issues or crying going to bed that night... they didn't miss it at all as they were probably not getting satisfaction from sucking any more. I thought I would really miss the dummy in the car and pram and at night time but it has been such a smooth transition. I can't even imagine going cold Turkey with my fiery babies it would have been so hard. Honestly think this product is amazing and made the transition so smooth.
