Trader Joe's has soup dumplings that are a couple of bucks a box cheaper than these (for the same amount of dumplings.) Buy the Trader Joe's version. Trust me. These had no broth inside, the pork had a super weird texture, the dumplings were gummy, and two of mine had a hard piece of gristle (I hope it was gristle) inside. I prepared these exactly the same way as I prepared the Trader Joe's version, so I know the preparation method isn't the issue. These are simply an inferior item. I won't buy these again.

Picked these up on a whim since that’s what you do when you go grocery shopping on an empty stomach. I debated between these and “regular” dumplings but I wasn’t in the mood to fry anything and regular dumplings are so much better fried. I was skeptical that these didn’t come with a sauce packet, but they had plenty of flavor on their own. I found them to be plenty juicy without getting a flood of liquid gushing out with one bite. Unlike other reviews, I found the meat-to-dough ratio fine — not overly dough-y to me. Found myself wanting more after eating all 6 and tried to spoon out the liquid that remained in the tray. Next time I’ll try them with some crispy chili oil. I no longer work from an office, but these would’ve been perfect to bring to the office for a hot lunch.

So the taste of the soup dumplings weren’t bad. I feel like the flavor of it is good. But, the dough was quite thick. I don’t really mind it, but wish there was more filling in them to balance out how thick they are. The filling, now that throws me off. It is too soft. Another review said it’s like a pate, and I have to agree. It’s just a little more clumpy than a pate though. The filling is not good though. Just too soft & mushy for me. It could use more soup for sure. But overall, if they upgrade the meat, I would buy again.
