submitted bySparkkle003 - 8 years agoA: I found out there are two versions of this game, one with plastic pieces and the other with wood pieces. The version with real wood pieces, says "Real wood chess and checkers pieces" on the front of the box cover. Unfortunately the box pictures on retailer web sites can be either version and does always accurately indicate which version is actually being sold. I checked my local Target store and by looking at the box verified that this location carried the wood pieces version but that may not be true for the target website or other Target locations.

A: Hello Sherry! Thank you for your question. The board is a double fold, it folds in half once, and then is folded in half again to fit in the box. The Dimensions of the board unfolded is 13.5 inches. Hope this helps.

This was a great value for 3 games that can be stored in one box! Gameboard is substantial, as are the game pieces. The Chinese checker pieces are a bit lighter and tend to move out of place is the board is moved or bumped. Not a deal breaker, in my opinion, however.

The Chinese checkers is a bit hard to play since the board needs time to lay flat, so make sure to flatten it out before playing or your balls will roll away. Other than that it's a great set to teach my son before getting a legit set.

This is a great beginners set. I wish the Chinese checkers balls were a heavier material, like a real marble. Any bump that happens sends them rolling all over, which stinks in the middle of the game. The playing board is actually pretty sturdy and folds up nicely. I personally prefer the original checkers that are plastic because when you get kinged you can stack them. Easy to see who your kings are. With these, you flip them over to a textured side and it’s just hard to see what you have on the board. Other than that, this is a good, quality game set.

This was a cute board. My son was excited to start playing chess. Unfortunately, this board last one or two times and the board ripped! We weren’t even rough with it. It is just not very durable. We are now looking for a wooden set so it is more sturdy.

Wonderful bundle, considering the price! No they are not cheap in my opinion, like some say. It’s a great choice for beginners to learn! Than once you figured what’s your favorite upgrade it to the next level. Target has options up to 1k worth. You decide how much you would like to spend. In this case, the board it’s a decent quality.
