Gardener's Supply Company Essex Plant Stand Trays, Set of 3

Often I feel plants are happier when watered from the bottom and these trays faciliate that method of watering.

I was attracted by the beautiful copper finish, but the finish is not water or humidity resistant. I'm going to sand and spray them with a Rustoleum copper finish. If that fails, will put pebbles on them.

These look pretty when you first get them but if you actually use them as pam t trays, and they get wet, the finish corrodes and completely flakes off. Waste of money.

I set my thirstiest plants in these copper trays, filled them with water, and left on vacation. The plants--even an azalea--thrived.

I bought two sets of these trays to go with the Essex plant stands. To be fair, the description does NOT say they are water resistant or water proof. However I mistakenly assumed some water runoff from my plants wouldn't hurt them based on what was said in the description. "…catch water overflow and spills, protecting carpeting and wood floors from damage. Fill them with small stones or glass "pebbles" to create a humidity tray for orchids and other humidity-loving plants…" My trays are still functional, but the finish has been destroyed by water over time. My suggestion is to use some type of liner in the trays to protect the finish if you decide to purchase them or be prepared to promptly clean up excess water. :)

If by "copper-plated" you mean copper colored spray paint seemingly applied by a hurried child then, sure, copper-plated it is, I guess.

I use these as a decorative way to corral plants and keep moisture and mess from coming in contact with wood surfaces.

I bought these to go along with the Essex plant stand. The trays are very attractive, but twist easily. I believe that as long as they stay on the shelves, with plants in them, they will be fine, and last a long time..

It's actually difficult to find a plant base or stand without drainage holes. I will be placing this copper stands (along with its base) in a screened in patio with carpeting. I couldn't have the water dripping onto the floor when I watered the plants. I searched and searched and although in my opinion these bases were pricier, I realized it was worth it! There's nothing like this out there! Would recommend!
