Summary of reviews

The product is a plant protection tent designed to keep bugs out and make gardening easier. However, it has received mixed reviews from guests. Some guests praised its effectiveness in protecting plants from pests and harsh weather, and its ability to extend the growing season. However, many guests criticized the product for its poor quality materials, particularly the fabric and zippers, which were reported to deteriorate quickly. The product's design was also criticized for only allowing access from one side, making it difficult to reach plants at the back.

I would not purchase from Gardner's Supply again.

We have been able to use this insect/shade cover for the last 3 seasons, but as others have stated it breaks down very quickly. This year we had to throw it away as the zippers all broken and net itself failed and ripped. I reached out to Gardner's Supply asking to purchase a replacement and after waiting months for an email reply because their system sent it to the wrong inbox, Jeffrey told me they cannot offer replacement covers. However, as you can see, they still offer the full set on the site. Now I have to try to find who their vendor is and buy directly from the source instead of asking Gardner's to support their products.

It worked great the first year and kept the insects, deer and neighborhood cats out of my garden. Unfortunately the netting didn't make it through the second year. The netting started tearing by the zippers. I was hoping to order a replacement cover and was surprised to discover they weren't available. Having openings on both sides would be a great improvement.

As everyone else has said, the screen cover falls apart in one season. but the plastic white cover has a ridiculous design for tying it onto the frame, which is almost worthless. I live in Maine and even in the summer it would blow off unless I tied it down in multiple places with extra stuff. The design for opening the zippers to water or work are also poorly designed as far as keeping the flaps from blowing down unless you want to tie them with those little tiny things each time which are not very sturdy. if you only secure it with the little white ties to the frame be prepared for it to blow into your neighbors yard. I do like the idea. For the price, figure you will get one season out of the screen, and several out of the metal and plastic if you tie things down in lots of places with your own system.

    Green mesh just doesn't last

The frame is great, but what's a frame without a cover? The mesh only lasted most of a season. It began tearing by the end of last summer, but since it's what I had, I used it again this year. By June the insects had no problem getting in (then they were trapped, opposite of my goals) and by August it was more holes than not. As a cold frame it's still fine. Anyway, please please add a way to buy replacement covers!

Why don't you sell a green mesh replacement? It appears to be something that's needed and I would certainly buy one.

The concept is good, but the netting/covers are very cheaply made. They will not last more than a few months even in temperate climates. I wish there were replacements to purchase, but sadly there aren't.

After 1 season in TX the green netting has rotted. Zipper stopped working within a few months. With no ability to purchase replacement netting this was a complete waste of money and materials. Now I have this nice frame but it's useless.

Really need to address issue of it blowing off. Perhaps there could be another way to vent? Ties downs need to be more durable and longer. Plastic cracks and could be made more durable

The plastic cover keeps flying off in the wind

We were very excited about these season extensions, and bought two as part of a grant we received for our school garden. The tents have been great, when they are not being blown away by the wind. This has been very frustrating, as we are not always able to go tend to the garden, and monitor what is happening there, but if there is the slightest wind, there is a risk of the whole tent getting blown away (without the bottom pieces which are fastened to the garden bed frame) and can sometimes land in the middle of the street). This is very dangerous, and I wish they would improve their design to make sure there is no risk of them ever flying off. Being that we are a school, we wouldn't want any children getting hurt. Buyer beware.

We read through all of the reviews and decided to adopt some of the suggestions. We have two 3 x 6 ft beds from Gardeners. So we put these tents over them. We staked the tent from the each apex to the inside corner. The green cover is the only concern, as some customers experienced trouble. Stay tuned!

    Screen Cover

The green screen tent has rotted and needs replacement after 2 years of use. There should be access from both sides. Reaching 86 years of age and trying to reach across can at times be a challenge. The plastic tent works well for early seed starting. Also it is much more durable than the green screen cover. After 2 years of use the painted metal frame is beginning to show some rust.

I had so much hopes for this cover. I have bought two of them -2 years in a row because they last until mid January here in Maryland. I guess that is better than nothing. Gardeners Supply, I know you can improve this! Additional zippered access to reach the rear, double the length of the tie strings, how about some velcro straps as well to attach to the bottom poles so wind doesnt blow the cover semi off?

Reading other reviews, you might think this thing is a mistake. But it's working great for us for two years so far, saved our plants from pests and extended our season. Yes, the plastic cover and net are garbage. They arrive with holes. But the frame structure is durable and reusable and I use my own covering material. I already had two and ended up buying two more because it was cheaper than making it myself. (Trust me, I know) I tried to DIY a similar solution and didn't save any money and spent 10x the amount of time.

Misleading product performance: warning do not purchase!

This product should come with a warning label considering how problematic it is. It does not accomplish what it states it will do. It does exactly the opposite. First, this does not keep bugs out - the way it is designed - it does not fit snugly to the beds, which means that bugs can enter through the bottom, they get in and get stuck. We lost an entire summer's harvest due to this. Secondly, it makes the actual act of gardening more difficult as there is only access on one side of the fabric so if you want to access any crops at the other end/back end of the hoop - it is nearly impossible. Lastly, only after one season, it is already rusting making for an unattractive product. When we went to remove the structure, all the green paint? from the structure came off in our hands demonstrating that it is a seriously cheap product made of cheap materials that bleed into one's hands. Not safe. This ended up being a very expensive investment that did not match the product's promises and more so, created more damage to our harvests had we simply had nothing. It really made me question how a company can promote a product of such poor quality and raises bigger questions about a company that does so. Because of this experience I will never purchase anything from this company or that brand again. PS- the online system does not allow you to give a product no stars - which is what it deserves -leading to misleading advertisements by the company. Boooooo.
