This replaced a model 45, about the same, with some new features. However to access the features it needs to be hard wired. Reading license numbers very hard unless you’re really close. A little disappointed but was forewarned by consumer reports. Would not buy this model again.

Luckily never had to use it. Only front facing but the app makes it easy to save videos. Lane and collision assist is actually very nice. Definitely not inexpensive but worth it for the right person

I don't know why I waited so long to get a dash cam. This thing is very simple. My mechanic hid the wires for me. It's just plugged into my cigarette adapter that surprisingly is still on modern cars. I assume it turns itself off. I've had it for months and no issues. I've yet to dive into the app but it seems somewhat simple as well. No regrets. Jump into the dash cam world. Garmin is a trusted brand.

After a couple of near misses with folks cutting in front of me to get to their turn lane, decided it was time to get a dash cam. I was pleased to see that the G-47 also had driver assistance features (lane control, traffic leaving, etc.) that my truck doesn't have and alarms are just the right volume level to provide an alert, not a noisy racket. I think the videos are fine for my needs and the presence of a camera provides a bit of deterrence for would be thieves. I love the magnetic mounting feature. Makes it easy to transfer to my other vehicle. I would be nice if the OBD connecting device was priced more reasonably - adding one for each vehicle gets pricey.

Overall I am enjoying this dash cam. The picture is great and love that it automatically records anything is thinks as an incident. The voice activation is pretty good, but not perfect. The one thing I wish was better was the app you use to gather all the videos. It has major connection issues and has to go through the pairing process over and over again. That all being said, I still like the camera itself and it does store video well, it just sometimes takes a while to get it when the app is acting up.

I have used Garmin products for years I have several gps units so I decided to try their dash cam. I couldn’t be happier, it’s easy to install simple to operate and it interfaces with my iPhone seamlessly. I was most impressed with the quality of the video. At this price and given the crazy world we live in there should be a dash cam in every vehicle

It's a really nice device. One complaint, If an incident happens you press a button and it saves 15 seconds before and after. I would think it would be more like minutes or 5 minutes before and after. So you have 15 second after a crash to get your wits about you to press that button. If it's not saved all is not lost as you can still download the unsaved video if it hasn't been overwritten like the Alaska Airlines voice recorder that this just happened to.

I bought tis to replace a Dash Cam 20 that I have BECAUSE GARMIN has removed/restricted some of the 20 features, since they stopped making the 20.. 1.. the screen is so SMALL a person can hardly see anything' .. 2.. the features icons on the Front is very hard to distinguish .. Garmin should have KEPT the Cam 20, and upgrade the software..
