I started using Mobil 1 5W-40Turbo Diesel, in my portable gasoline generators, for ease of starting in winter, and for ability to handle the heat of air cooled engines in summer. Fuel usage is down, so is internal engine noise. If you find a better oil, buy it.

We stuck a bore scope down and everything looks brand new still. I will admit I change every 6000 miles when I know we can go longer but for an 07 5.9 common rail the 15 year old engine looks great for hauling a 14k lb 5th wheel for most of its life and miles.
Best Wear Numbers from oil analysis I’ve ever seen

I have a 2014 VW Passat TDI and sent the oil in for analysis to see how it was wearing. I couldn’t believe all the low wear numbers. Way below the averages for my engine and mileage. My car’s DPF, EGR, and SCR system fell off which is why I’m not using the VW 507 approved oil by the way. If you have a TDI with the emissions still intact, I would recommend using this oil instead of the “approved” VW 507 oils. The oil thickness once warm (100* celcuis spec) is not much higher than the 507 approved oils. Think of it as the TDT is a “thinner” 40 weight, and the VW 507 oils a “thicker” 30 weight oil. The ash # is still low enough to use in anything with a DPF. I have switched over to the Mobil TDT in all 6 of my Diesels I own. The anti-wear additive is very robust.

Different color oil between gallon and quart sizes

Purchased 2 gallons and 2 quarts on 6/27/2020. Both quarts were a much darker color than the gallons. If I wasn't forced to use these two quarts, I would not have. Might need to switch to Rotella....

Thank you for reaching out to us. In 2016, we did experience an issue with this product receiving a higher than normal amount of red dye, which would be harmless, but visually alarming. Rather than assume this is what you're seeing, please contact us at 1-800-ASK-MOBIL so we can gather more details from the package? We want to be certain you have a safe product for the truck.

Today (3/7/20) I purchased 2 gallons of 5W-40 Mobil 1 TDT. During my oil change I noticed whil pouring the second gallon, the oil color was different from the first gallon. It appears to be 2 diferent products in the same labeling, nothing denoted "new formula" or any other changes, just a slightly different label design on the back.

Thank you for reaching out to us. There was a known color difference in Mobil 1 Turbo Diesel Truck 5W-40 right at the end of the API CJ-4 era in 2016. Please feel free to call us at 1-800-ASK-MOBIL to determine the status of your containers?

Have a 2015 Ford Superduty 6.7. Been using this product for 244,000 miles with no issues. Changing the oil at 7500 mile intervals. Only down fall is the cost, but you get what you pay for.

Even though it isn't recommended for a 7.3 Diesel I've been using it 4 years now. My truck loves the stuff. It starts much easier on cold mornings not even plugged in you can tell a big difference from the standard 15-40 Diesel oil. I pull a 10,000 lb trailer from Ogden Utah to Aguilar Colorado once or twice a year. I haven't had any oil related issues at all. Starts and runs quieter with great oil pressure and no oil leaks period. I change the oil once a year now 5000 -7000 miles is normal. The truck has 168000 miles on it so it isn't a high mileage truck but it gets used for pulling. It might not be recommended for the 7.3 but my truck runs better with it. Doesn't matter the weather conditions either...cold or hot this oil makes my truck run better. I don't know much about oils I just wanted to try it cause I had slow cranking issues in cold weather here. Won't go back to 15-40 stuff unless I can't get the 5-40.
Not recommended for older powerstroke diesels

Mobile one's online product finder does not recommend this for 7.3 Powerstroke Turbo Diesel trucks. Too bad. I use M1 in my cars and like it. Probably it's lower viscosity won't work properly with injection system.

I have a 2005 Silverado 2500 with LLY duramax diesel. I have used mobile 1 turbo diesel since new. I now have 351000 miles without ANY problems, truck still runs like new, I have original injectors and turbo, I change oil using vehicle oil monitor, usally at 10000 miles between changes . I also use mobile 1 synthetic trans fluid and mobile 1 75w 90 synthetic gear oil. Never had a rebuild on trans or differential. I wouldn't use anything else.

Used this in my gasoline engine. After purchasing my used 2001 Nissan Xterra V6 I noticed a little engine noise. I messed with a few different oils and noticed how picky this engine is with different viscosities. To make a long story short, finally I tried the 5w-40 tdt and I couldn't be happier. The engine runs like new, smooth as butter, has plenty of power and is quieter than ever. For smooth, quiet operation with maximum protection I would use this oil in anything requiring 5w-30 , 10w-30 or 10w-40

I own a 99 VW Golf . Ive repaired or replaced near every major part on this car but the engine which has never been touched. Only Mobil Delvac1 or Turbo Diesel 5w-40 used every 6-7000 miles since it came off warranty. Still get 50+ highway MPG and the only oil it burns is the diesel its supposed to. The car now has 432,000 mile on it! I attribute that to your oil as I know other TDI owners who use other brands that haven't made half that distance before rebuild or junk yard. Great stuff.

When i bought my 1997 f250 from the original owner i didnt immediately switched to mobil 1 oil. I use my truck for some daily use, towing, and traveling and noticed some cold weather performance issues. I switched over and the hard starts went away, it ran smoother with less warm up time, and I've noticed small MPG gains. I've even stretched a couple oil changes out to almost a year and 8k miles and I could still see through the oil when i drained it. Money well spent!

Quiets valve train noise better than any other brand I have tried. This product keeps cam follower noise completely subdued all the way to the next oil change. With all the other brands I have tried some valve train noise begins to be heard a few thousand miles after oil change and by the time the oil change mileage is reached the valve train noise is quite conspicuous. This would suggest that this oil can maintain excellent shear strength throughout its useful life. No small comfort here when I consider all the other crazy expensive parts this stuff may be keeping out of metal to metal contact .
Why would you use anything else?

I have been using it in a 2009 GMC with a DuraMax. I tow a winterized 5th wheel rec trailer which is heavy and a 5th wheel 16 foot dump trailer when not on holidays. I have driven the Highway through **** and the grapevine at 30 deg C at posted speeds which caused the cooling fans to come on and the temp to rise. I now have 169,000 km and change oil at factory recommended times. The engine has not missed a beat and started easily in -30 deg C with out being plugged in. I have been impressed with how well the oil flows at some of our cold temp and how well the oil sticks at the high temps.

My 2000 Dodge 2500 tower a 40.5 foot fifth wheel so I wanted the best motor oil I could find for my truck. I now have over 220000 miles on it and purrs like a kitten. I change it every 7000 miles along with either the Mobile oil filter or the K&N filter. If your looking for a full sythitic oil for your light duty truck this is it. Thanx Mobil1. I'll see you at 500,000 miles I'm sure of it.
