Q: Can you tell me if the 4 inch length is correct? This looks like the bulb I've bought previously, but it's much too long.

A: Unfortunately, the A15 (A19, A21) spec is only for diameter and not length. That's why bulb manufacturers are turning out these enormously long bulbs that may not fit in the fixture - because the spec doesn't capture that dimension. Common sizes of the A bulb are A15, A19, and A21. The number designation in the code is usually the width of the bulb at its widest point designated in eighths of an inch. So an A15 is an A shape bulb and is 1.875 inches in diameter (15 divided by 8). The same holds true for the fluorescent tube dimensions. Common sizes of the T (for tube) are T12, T8, T6. Therefore, a T8 is 8/8th in diameter or 1 inch. The best (and really only way) to know ahead of purchase for the A-bulb length is from the manufacturer's website or product info. Unfortunately, GE doesn't publish dimensions of their bulbs on their website.

This bulb does not work as I read it should. I have to switch the dimmer on and off for it to even consider shining at full capacity. It goes completely out or to a very dim light at random most nights. I paid over $10 for 2 lousy bulbs for this kind of performance, really????

I was so happy that I *finally* had gotten the correct base. Popped it in there and all seemed good at first, turned on and off as expected, but then... the light just stayed on. No matter how often we turn it off and on to get it to work again it just stays on - lightly dimmed, but definitely on! It's so weird.... This is in a room that we can just close off at night, so it's not going to ruin our lives, but... it's just weird.

Works perfect for my daughters ceiling fan that had a glass globe that goes on it over the bulb so it's hard to find a bulb with the small base that isn't too long. I had a hard time finding a LED option until I found these and the work perfect.
