We designed this product using at least 20% recycled polyester (excluding trimmings, ornamentation, interlinings, and linings; see below for full fiber content), a fabric that’s created by turning old plastic into new polyester fibers. Making products with recycled polyester helps prevent plastic waste from ending up in landfills — another way we’re committed to promoting sustainability.

Kids’ measuring guide

Use the tips & visuals in this guide to make taking your child's body measurements easy-peasy.

Dont have a fabric tape measure? Use a shoelace or pant leg to measure. Then, lay it flat & use a ruler or tape measure to get a numerical measurement.

How to measure

  • Height

    Have your child stand in front of the fridge.Mark the top of the head with a magnet. Measure a straight line from floor to magnet.

  • Chest

    Have your child make airplane arms. Wrap tape measure around the fullest part of the chest, keeping it level & snug.

  • Waist

    With your child bending to one side, measure the point where the waist flexes naturally. Keep the tape level & comfortably loose.

  • Hip

    Have your child stand like a tall tree with feet together. Measure a level line around the fullest part of the hips & seat.

  • Inseam

    Take a pair of pants that fit your child well. Measure along the seam from crotch to leg opening.

The shorts seem well enough made. They're high waisted which all my children have always disliked; not sure if that's common. My daughter is 7 years old so using the size chart, I purchased a Small which is 6/7. They're huge! The waist measures 24.5 inches which is one inch short of Plus Size 7 on the chart. In the photo she isn't stretching the waist, that's the unstretched size. She is slim (just over 4 ft tall and 50 lbs weight) but these won't fit her for years!

We were looking for modest comfortable shorts. While These Are Longer When Standing (Think Basketball Shorts), The Crotch Sags Very Low So Once Our Daughter Is Sitting Cross Legged And The Crotch Is Against The Body, These Hike Way Up Again And They Arent Much Different Than The Shorts That Are Out There. We Were Disappointed And Wish We Could Find Shorts With A Higher Crotch And Longer Legs. These Will Do For Now, But We Will Still Be Searching. We Ordered 4-5t For Our Typically 5t Daughter And These Hang On Her And Definitely Run Big.
