Use the tips & visuals in this guide to make taking your child's body measurements easy-peasy.

Dont have a fabric tape measure? Use a shoelace or pant leg to measure. Then, lay it flat & use a ruler or tape measure to get a numerical measurement.

How to measure

  • Height

    Have your child stand in front of the fridge.Mark the top of the head with a magnet. Measure a straight line from floor to magnet.

  • Chest

    Have your child make airplane arms. Wrap tape measure around the fullest part of the chest, keeping it level & snug.

  • Waist

    With your child bending to one side, measure the point where the waist flexes naturally. Keep the tape level & comfortably loose.

  • Hip

    Have your child stand like a tall tree with feet together. Measure a level line around the fullest part of the hips & seat.

  • Inseam

    Take a pair of pants that fit your child well. Measure along the seam from crotch to leg opening.

  • A: length of this specific skirt is not in the description or the sizing chart & gen desc. only states above knee; need to know since our kids' heights impact if this will pass school length requirements

  • A: It goes to my daughter’s knees. Also helps it has built in shorts since little girls aren’t the best with keeping pleated skirts or legs closed! I was worried it would be to short but the other stretchy style of skirt with the 2 buttons is actually shorter in length than the pleated. It does zip on the side which my daughter hates, and also has an adjustable waist. I feel the skirt almost looks weird as it is so long compared to pictures. I wish it was a little above her knees. Oh well!!

  • A: Exactly the same! Two pleats in the front and two in the back. You could wear it backwards if you wanted the zip to be on the other side.

Q: What is the length of the skirts? The length is not listed on the size chart. For example, something like "for size 10, the length is 19", size 12, 19.5"" etc. Do they have a couple inches of hem?

I gave this skort a shot even though I read that the pleats flap up. I thought it wouldn’t be a big deal but no it stays like that until pushed down and fixed. Not something my five year old is notices or is thinking about and therefore doesn’t fix. It just ends up looking a little silly so my child no longer wears this skort

The material is great and it's the classic uniform skirt design that everyone thinks of. The downside is, every time my daughter sits down or moves around a lot, (all the time) it folds up oddly. She would have to smooth it down with her hands in the front and back in order to not look really odd. I need to eventually add a picture to better explain. This skirt needs to be made of a different fabric.
