A: Hi there, hulagirl! We appreciate your interest! A chime is not included with every purchase of Nest doorbells. Thankfully, you can connect a Google speaker or display and set up visitor announcements to get notified when someone rings your doorbell when you’re home. You'll only get visitor announcements on your speakers and displays if they are set up in the same home as your doorbell in the Home app. Also, if you have Alexa, Google offers a Smart Home skill for integrating your Nest doorbell with Amazon's Alexa home control. Alexa can announce when someone presses the doorbell or when the doorbell detects motion or events. Visit the Google Nest Help Center to learn about how to control the Nest devices with Amazon Alexa.

Absolutely love our Nest doorbell! Had this for 6 months now. My favorite feature is the free 3 hours of video recording that you get without needing a subscription. Video quality is really great, and it’s easy to track on my phone. I also like that it can tell if it’s a package delivery, an animal, or a person. Plus I love the sleek modern look.

The first version of this doorbell was way better. I only had to replace because the material outside the doorbell was trash, but the actual recording and capturing of events was way better. This new version doesn’t catch a lot of activity and I’ve adjusted every setting and still miss so much. And so far the battery life isn’t the best after having it in for 2 weeks. I don’t know why it’s so low when it doesn’t catch a lot of the events.

I bought this to replace an older model Nest video doorbell, where the chime unexpectedly stopped working. I was surprised to see how much clearer the video resolution is on the 2nd gen doorbell. There are several options for customization, for example, I chose to include people and packages, excluding all other motion like cars passing by, random noises being picked up etc. I can also stream video to my Nest Hub max so I can see who is at the front door when the bell rings. Just say, 'hey google, show me the front door.' I'm also using nest wifi pro and nest connect at home to boost the signal for all my cameras including the video doorbell. Do not expect it to work smoothly if you don't have a WiFi booster. So far, so good! Very pleased with it.

Disappointed - 1 year ago
Not worth the money it costs. After an update it stopped being able to connect to my devices. After multiple attempts to resolve it customer service couldn’t do anything and basically told me I was out of luck. I spent $250 for two years and now it’s useless and google custom service won’t do anything.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] It did take me some time to set up but, but works well. I am biased as I'm a long-time Google guy. The instructions are quite clear, my issue was getting to my chime which elevated. Otherwise, installation was easy, plus free cloud storage (but limited time), and good image quality (and audio). It's a win, especially since I'm DEEP in the Google ecosystem.

Mine seems to be very defective smh. The microphone doesn’t work on mine and my camera footage loads soooo slow. I called customer service for Google and they wanted me to return it but they said they would have to put a $179 hold on my account smh. I can’t return it back to target because by the time I realized it was defective they said I had to return it within 30 days…. It looks really nice tho.

Hello there. We appreciate you taking the time to share your feedback with us. We’re sorry to hear you came across this issue with your order of the Nest Doorbell (wired, 2nd gen). You have two options for the replacement. With standard exchange, you will need to send your device back to Google. Once received and inspected, your replacement device will be shipped to you. With the Advanced Exchange, we'll send you another email with the link to order your replacement device. It'll be shipped to you first before you send your defective device back. This option will require both a Google Payments account and an authorization hold on your credit or debit card for the full cost of the device. Once we receive your defective device, the authorization hold will be removed from your card. An authorization hold is not a charge so funds will not be deducted. For more details about the replacement options, feel free to reach us again through our contact channels found at the Google Nest Help Page.

I bought this as an upgrade to my old Google Nest doorbell. This picture is not nearly as sharp. And it's constantly picking up the street, no matter how I adjust it. It feels like a downgrade.
1 reply from Nest Support team - 2 years ago
Hi there, Janelleg. Thanks for being an avid user of Nest doorbells, and for sharing your experience with the Nest Doorbell (Wired, 2nd Gen). We hear your concerns about its video quality and event detection. You can adjust your cameras’ video quality that may improve the resolution. The higher the video quality setting you choose, the sharper and more detailed your footage can be, but it also uses more of your internet bandwidth. This setting lets you choose the maximum video quality for your cameras. But whichever level you pick, your camera will automatically adjust its resolution and compression according to how much bandwidth is available. Visit the Google Nest Help Center to learn more on how to change Nest camera or doorbell video quality. You can choose which events your doorbell can detect and record (people, motion, package, etc.). From there, you (and each member of your home) can decide which of those events to get notifications for. If an event is turned off, you won’t get notifications for that kind of activity. Using activity zones to monitor specific areas can also help. If you need more assistance, please don’t hesitate to contact us at the Google Nest Help Page.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] The Google Nest Doorbell Wired (2nd Gen) is a high-tech, easy-to-use doorbell. This doorbell features a sleek, modern design that will blend in well with any home decor, and it comes equipped with advanced features other doorbells are lacking. One of the standout features of this doorbell is its ability to detect and differentiate between people, animals, and vehicles, providing more accurate alerts. This is such a huge plus over my previous doorbell camera. The crystal-clear 24/7 live streaming and HDR video allows for a clear view of visitors in any lighting conditions. Even late at night without the porch light on. A huge improvement over my previous doorbell. The Google Nest Doorbell Wired (2nd Gen) also has two-way audio, allowing you to communicate with visitors at your door from anywhere via your smartphone or tablet. It is easy to install and set up, and since it uses existing wiring there is no need to charge. Very happy with this!

The installation process was very straightforward and easy, even for people who are not tech-savvy. The camera quality is exceptional, and the app connectivity has been seamless and reliable. One of the things I appreciate most about this product is its motion detection feature. [This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Google Nest Doorbell offers a range of features that will help you to feel more secure and comfortable in your home. One of the standout features of this smart doorbell is the ability to two-way talk with visitors or delivery people. This feature is particularly useful if you're not at home but want to make it look like you are. With the ability to converse with people at your door, you can give the impression that you're inside and deter potential threats. Additionally, the 145° diagonal view offers a sharp and vivid picture, rain or shine, day or night, ensuring that you can see everything that's happening at your front door. The Google Nest Doorbell also offers night vision capabilities, which is especially useful if you're away from home and want to keep an eye on your property. With 3 hours of recorded video history as standard, you can review your footage as events occur, helping you to keep track of any suspicious activity. Installing this doorbell is a breeze, as it's designed to be easy to install with existing doorbell power wires. Additionally, it's easy to connect to a Google Home system, making it easy to manage your home video surveillance from one central location. Overall, I am incredibly impressed with the quality of the video and the responsiveness of the system. It is an excellent choice for anyone who wants to enhance their home security.

I also need to contact the customer support and they were very supportive and answer all my queried. Overall i am happy with the product and its software app.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] This was a great upgrade for our existing doorbell camera which was much blockier and less attractive. The Nest wired doorbell uses the existing doorbell transformer power wires, but there is also a battery version if you need alternatives. The app has great tracking features for people and packages, and records your video to the cloud for storage up to 3 hours. Beyond that, you can opt for a subscription for longer periods of storage. The video and audio quality is excellent and I'm happy with the smart alerts.
