Q: Can I just hang on wall in location I want it without attaching any wires through it or do I have to connect to the wires that controls the heat because i want to put in the basement?

A: the Sensor is wireless, it just senses the temperature away from your main thermostat.

Also, you can’t use a Nest Temperature Sensor without a Nest Learning Thermostat or Nest Thermostat E. You can visit our Google Nest Help page for more information.

A: You can’t use a Nest Temperature Sensor without a Nest thermostat. Your temperature sensor will report temperature data directly to a Nest thermostat in the same home over Bluetooth. Whenever the sensor is active, your thermostat will use your sensor's reading to control when your system turns on and off. Your thermostat will ignore its own built-in temperature sensor during those times. The Nest Temperature Sensor works with the following thermostats: - Nest Learning Thermostat, 3rd generation - Nest Thermostat E For the following countries: - United States - Canada - Mexico Learn more about the Nest Temperature Sensor at the Google Nest Help center.

Stopped working after a year and Nest said I’m SOL. I don’t think the temp was very accurate anyways.

Hi there, it's unfortunate that your Nest Temperature Sensor stopped working after using it for only a year. We apologize for any inconvenience this issue may have caused you. If you´re willing, try moving your sensor a bit closer to your Nest thermostat. Sometimes it may pass the connection test during setup, but will struggle to stay connected if it’s just a bit too far away. Check for objects such as mirrors and refrigerators between the sensor and your thermostat. These items could block the connection. For more help, here are some troubleshooting steps you can try out: - Check the battery charge. The Nest app will send you a notification before the battery is fully drained, so you should have plenty of time to replace it. - If the battery still has a charge, try removing it for 10 minutes. This lets power drain completely from the sensor and forces it to reset. Then put the battery back in and check if the sensor has reconnected in the Nest app. We'd like to learn more about your experience, and understand what may be causing the issue. Love this! Recently bought a twin home & the lower level was always 5 degrees colder than upstairs, which doesn’t seem like much but it was quite noticeable. Set this little guy up downstairs in less than 5 minutes & works perfect! Changed the settings so the thermostat goes off the sensor temperature downstairs & the entire house is regulated perfectly. The sensor was much smaller than I was expecting, but no complaints as I simply set in a hidden location so I didn’t have to put another screw in the wall.

I would give this five stars, but I don’t like that I can’t set the times the thermostat uses the sensor. There are four preset blocks of time, and you can’t change them. Sweating in my living room as I type this because my furnace is getting my bedroom up to temperature. (9 PM to 7 AM block).

Works great to make sure our room temperature is what drives the HVAC at night. It’s a few degrees warmer, and this simple device makes it so I do it have to manually drop temperature a few degrees at night and turn it up again in the morning. It’s also interesting to see how much temperature variation exists across the different rooms of our home.
