Description

In this educational magnetic toy, the object of the game is to help the colored balls find their way home to their matching color garage. Can you get the red balls to the red house? the blue balls to the blue parking garage and so on? This Montessori learning toy fosters concentration and strategic thinking as preschoolers independently work to get around the obstacles. One of the roadblocks must be guided along a track to move it out of the way. The other one can be rotated to allow one ball through at a time. Younger children will delight in simply moving the balls along the maze. Older children will problem solve how to tuck a ball in one of the alcoves to let another color pass or to turn a corner quickly to dislodge a color that is unexpectedly along for the ride. The three colored buildings have recessed compartments to hold the balls so that they don't fall out of place if the board isn't held completely flat. Pro tip: Hold the magnetic wand at 90 degrees for best results.

Q: Are the little balls somehow fixed in the small tunnels?

submitted by 3tze - 8 months ago
  • A: There is an acrylic cover that is permanently affixed and keeps the balls safely contained. I hope that helps!

This magnetic puzzle seemed like a great christmas gift but my child showed no interest in it. He had other puzzles bought for christmas too that he enjoyed much more. Even other magnetic puzzles he likes, but not this.. its a pretty boring puzzle even for my 2 year old. Its seems like good quality even though each of the four colors has 3 balls except for the gray which has 4. Its a $20 puzzle and i got what i paid for

Maybe suitable for kid older than 2 years old

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] You have to hold the pen straight vertically in order to get the balls to move, so it is a little challenging for 2 years old. It may be good for later.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] My two and a half year old grandson was frustrated with the magnetic pen. You have to hold it straight vertically in order to get the balls to move and it was a challenge for him to keep holding it that way. I think he will catch on, but right now since he can't get the balls to move easily, it doesn't hold his interest.

Daughter is 2.5 and loves it! Just enough challenge but not enough to frustrate. She makes up little stories for the balls and we think it will be a great toy for in the car.

Good game for hand-eye coordination

My son has not fully grasped the idea of this game yet as he is a bit too young still, but he is practicing his hand-eye coordination with it, which is very important. As always, Germany always produces quality products.

I bought this for my 4 year old grandson's birthday and it was a hit with all my grandsons 2 and 6 as well. Great quiet time toy or while in the car. The magnetic stick is attached so no missing parts. It was such a big a hit that I placed an order for 2 more so all my grandsons can enjoy.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] While this is a great idea the functionality didn’t work for my son. Magnet wasn’t strong enough to keep hold of the balls as they go. He got frustrated every time he used this. It’s a great idea but wasn’t executed well.

Engaging for various ages, 2-7. Builds hand coordination for fine motor skills. Also offers problem solving opportunities to get the balls to the destination by objects with a magnet.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] The town maze magnetic game is a fun game for kids of all ages. It makes kids think about the direction to drag the ball to make it to the finish and even if they are not old enough to comprehend it is still entertainment for them.

Kept her busy.....For a Little While

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] IMO the goal of any kids toy is to keep them busy and have them learn something in the process. This product did a good job of that for about a week. She really enjoyed moving the little roundabout to let the ball through. I tried to show her about getting the colored balls in the appropriate slots but she wants ready for that yet. She will still come back to it in her rotation of things but it can't grab her attention in the same way as before. Maybe she'll get into the color coding aspect in the future and it will help her with her sorting and fine motor skills while it keeps her busy. It does seem to be very well made. I see it lasting for a long time. The string for the wand is just the right length to manipulate all the balls. I would like it to have just a little more play but I understand the implications of making the string too long. All in all, I am happy with the product and would make the same purchase in the future.

The town maze magnetic game

5 out of 5 stars
Beth B. - 4 years ago

The town maze magnetic game is wonderful for children a bit older. I offer in-home child care, and the almost 3 year old children need something a bit more challenging. This maze offers just that. They are very focused with getting the balls around the maze, and they are engaged and enjoy sustained play while working this maze. Thank you so much!
