A: This is a chapter book! I heard the author say she was going to be writing a grahic novel in the future, though. Can't wait for the next book whatever it is! Hairiette is super fun!!!

I purchased this book for my 6yo daughter who enjoys reading. This was her first chapter book and the vibrant/colorful images captured her attention right away. She found herself in Hairette, sung the Macarena song every time Hairette’s dog was mentioned in the book, and was eager to read the following chapter. We loved how it teaches young children to be grateful and encouraged them to use their imagination.

I bought Harriette of Harlem for my goddaughter for Christmas. She has been having difficulty and little interest in reading. So I told her mom I she was getting books for Xmas, not dolls. I saw the author's post about her book being at Target and I remembered the author from some of my favorite TV shows. So that made it easy to decide what she was getting for Xmas! Her mother and I were both surprised by how much she LOVES this book. Other books have not kept her interest. She asks to read it every day! They finished it and she asked to read it again until I find her another book. So now I have to find her another book. When does book #2 come out? lol!!

I followed author Tanya Wright on Twitter and Instagram. I saw her idea of Hairiette come to fruition. It is such a lovely book, not at all what I expected. The texture of the cover is the first thing that caught my eye. The illustrations by Ashley Evans are bold and so colorful. I found myself smiling as soon as I saw Hairiette and read her story. So descriptive! I want to visit 125th Street now. New words are introduced and repeated, and used in sentences to teach the new words. For children who love reading, I don't think they will be disappointed in having Hairiette of Harlem in their hands. I found myself looking for Hairiette's birthday surprise on all of the pages. Looking forward to reading Book 2.

I just finished reading the delight-filled book one of the Hairiette series by Tanya Wright and I can't wait to discover what in the world will happen next. Chock-full of delicious treats and clever twists for kids (and grown-ups) of all ages, Hairiette's whimsical story had me smiling with every turn of the page.

Great children's book are always very profound under the wholesome fun. Harirette of Harlem is no different. In many way a normal girl Harriette discovers her gift and her power, one which all kids have. This is great addition for any kid's library.

my daughter Maddie (9yr old) came downstairs with excitement to let me know she finished the book. She wanted to share because she is so proud of herself for finishing. She said it was a big deal for her :) Her biggest takeaway was that she felt like Hairiette was just like her. She loved seeing herself in the book and all the little cliffhangers within that kept her returning to read every night. I'm so proud of her and so thankful. Not just for us, but all the other girls that will look and see themselves in Hairiette and feel a sense of empowerment as a reader when they finish this book. Maddie said she can't wait for the next book!!
