Q: Can the warming plate feature be turned off?

submitted by rper - 7 months ago
  • A: No. But I have a work around. I always use this for coffee puts and crockpots. I use a traditional mechanical timer, and plug the appliance into that. For coffee, I put the 2 chips right next to each other, so for the timbers I have that's about 15 minutes. A different style I have uses push buttons, but those are 30 min apart. (For crock puts, I usually set it for 4 hours, or 3 hours.) I don't bother to set the time to a clock. Instead, I just turn the dial until it clicks "on". I then either plug it into the outlet, or if already plugged in, make sure the coffee maker switch it's lit up, "on". Then in about 15 minutes times will switch to the off proton. That's plenty of time to brew, and the plate will start cooling down. If I want the put to automatically turn on again at the same time tomorrow, I leave it alone. . If not, I then unplug, it, or turn the pot off at the switch next time I walk by, or when I go to get my cooled off coffee. This way you have a full day to remember to turn off the pot, If you don't want it to brew again the next day. Remember if you have a power outage, you'll need to reset the timer. We have so many, I don't bother, I just turn the timer dial until it clicks "on" to start the new, lol. These timers last decades. Great investment, and they're not that expensive. Could also be used for curling irons, crockpots, rice cookers, space heaters, etc.

Q: How do you remove the lid on the carafe without breaking the lid?

  • A: Thank you for your question. Please contact Hamilton Beach directly for additional assistance.

  • A: The part of the lid that is attached to the carafe has a small “peg” on each side of it that fits into two small openings that are on the sides. The pegs “snap” into and out of those openings. It’s pretty easy to remove the lid and snap it back in. I hope this provides enough information to work for you.
