Kids’ measuring guide

Use the tips & visuals in this guide to make taking your child's body measurements easy-peasy.

Dont have a fabric tape measure? Use a shoelace or pant leg to measure. Then, lay it flat & use a ruler or tape measure to get a numerical measurement.

How to measure

  • Chest

Have your child make airplane arms. Wrap tape measure around the fullest part of the chest, keeping it level & snug.

  • Waist

With your child bending to one side, measure the point where the waist flexes naturally. Keep the tape level & comfortably loose.

Q: what age do you think it is right for a girls to start to wear a bra

submitted by josie - 4 years ago
  • A: 11 years old is an average age puberty starts

submitted bygirl who needs a bra - 4 years ago
  • A: Whenever breast buds start to show through shirts or if she asks at a reasonable age. I only needed one at 13 and I'm 15 still wearing training bras.

submitted byEvelyn - 3 years ago
  • A: When their body shows signs of puberty.

submitted byDog Mom - 8 months ago
  • A: i started puberty at 9- im 11 now .-.

submitted byuhh - 4 years ago
  • A: Some girls will wear them in elementary school because it makes them more comfortable. If it has crossed your mind because she's entering that stage of development, then it's probably the right time to make some bras available to the girl in your life. Many girls are too nervous to ask for one; you may just need to buy a few and have them at home for her to try out when the time feels right. There is no right age -- any age is fine.

submitted byParent - 4 years ago
  • A: Whenever they ask for sure...even if you think it's too early, if it makes them feel more confident and comfortable, I don't see the harm. Just like preparing them for puberty by introducing them to the parts of the body and the terminology. Good time to bond with them and let them know you are on their side to help them while they grow up. Maybe their friends are developing and talking about it, so they want to wear one too. Who knows, but I like to pursue things while they are interested. I was extremely embarrassed when I was asked at a gymnastics meet once "don't you have a bra" by my coach....apparently, I should have been wearing one under my leotard for the meet suit, which was white and not as tight...it was when I noticed that I had the breast buds but didn't know there was any such thing as a training bra. If your daughter doesn't have anything there, but wants a bra, get a sports bra style without cups. She may just not want her nipples to show through her shirt even if she is not developing yet.

submitted byJillyjill - 3 years ago
  • A: Me and my mom both got training bras when we were nine and she got a real bra when she was 11. Just matters when your hormones kick in.

submitted by JuliaM - 3 months ago
  • A: Hi- these bras are a nylon/spandex blend.

Q: what does it mean by wireless?

submitted by girl who needs a bra - 4 years ago
  • A: The bra does not contain any underwire. The entire bra is a seamless fabric that rests flat and smoothly on the skin.

Q: About sizing, my daughter is an average sized 12.5 year old, 85 lbs. Should I get M or L?

submitted by AJMOM - 5 years ago
  • A: my daughter is the same age, average size and she wears a large

submitted byagkerner - 4 years ago

Q: Size chart is confusing. Isn't the band size the same thing as the rib cage? My girl's band size, or ribcage, is 28. Her bust size is barely 30. I think her size is probably 28A. Weighs 100 pounds and is 5' 5 1/2" tall. Is this small or medium?

submitted by EmilyD - 5 years ago
  • A: Bra sizes in general are confusing, but I would go off of her measurements more than the band size.

submitted byS - 4 years ago

Q: What are the band sizes?? Which would be a 34 inch? M? Or L?

submitted by Aphmomma - 5 years ago
  • A: Large depending on the age too.

submitted bygirl who needs a bra - 4 years ago

Q: What sizes would the S, M, L, XL corresponde too? My daughter is 11 and not sure what size to get.

submitted by Janice - 5 years ago
  • A: My daughter is 11 and we buy her the large.

submitted byPaula - 5 years ago

Q: Does it have's padding

submitted by Desiree marfo - 5 years ago
  • A: Yes, it is removable. This style has removable foam cups for modesty and shaping.

Summary of reviews

These bras are a popular choice for young girls transitioning into wearing bras. They are praised for their comfort, soft material, and adjustable straps, making them ideal for everyday wear. The removable padding offers modesty, though some guests find it inconvenient during washing. Sizing can be inconsistent, so consider sizing up. Overall, they are a great starter bra for young girls.

It’s a decent bralette for preteens. I wish the pads were sewn in though. It always comes off in the washer even when I put them in baggies.

Just perfect coverage and fit for beginners. It's not too tight or too loose if you find the right size. I bought medium for my soon to be 10yrs (54" 65lbs). Thin removable pads make smooth outlines over t-shirts. No scratching label is another plus as well as a great price. I have bought 3 brands/styles for a try and this is the best. Better than other over $24 bras bought from elsewhere!

I bought the size Large for my tall, slender 10 year old. She has had a few starter bras already, but these are her first with some padding, and she loves them. By far, her favorites.

I've bought SO many starter bras for my daughter who is hating everything about starting puberty and she's hated every single one, but thought I'd give these a shot. She actually likes them! She says they're really comfy (as a bra can be anyways lol) and soft. The removable pads don't add any cup sizes, they're really thin and are just for extra coverage and she prefers to wear them. Easy to wash and dry. Will definitely be buying more and saving money by not wasting it on the pricier ones!
