It's hard to believe that this is a debut novel! Author Jenny Erlingsson shares the poignant story of a Southern makeup artist's encounter with a famous Hollywood actor when a movie crew comes to Adanne's hometown. This would give her a chance to earn badly needed money for her family but there's just one complication. She's worked with John Pope before and it didn't end well. Can she endure working with him again? I enjoyed watching a very tenuous relationship blossom into liking, respect, and finally, so much more! The romance is sweet, the chemistry is real, and I cheered for their brave leaps of faith! Her Part to Play is a heartwarming Christian romance! I received a copy of this book from Revell Publishing. Her Part to Play is Jenny Erlingsson debut contemporary romance novel. It tells the story of a small-town make up artist and a well-known Hollywood movie star who are thrown together in tight quarters. I enjoyed watching two characters who come from very different walks of life take a genuine interest in each other. I loved the sometimes-snarky banter, the slightly-cocky hero, and the grounded heroine. And when the slow-burn romance heated up, I appreciated how respectful they were to each other and to their faith in God. Truthfully, the more I read this story, the more I loved it. The characters were well written and developed, and I enjoyed diving into their backstories one bite at a time as well as watching them come together into a unique romance. And can I just say, I’d die for some cousins like Adanne’s. I loved them!! One last note, I truly enjoyed the faith elements of this story. Adanne and John have very different backgrounds with their faith, but it was a key part of both of their stories. I loved the faith arcs and watching them both grow in more than just their relationship with each other. Overall, I enjoyed Her Part to Play and would recommend it to Christian contemporary romance fans. I was given a copy of this book by the publisher with no expectations of a positive review. Her Part to Play by Jenny Erlingsson is the realistic fiction story of Adanne and her role as a makeup artist. Adanne finds herself on set with the man who had a significant negative impact on her previous experiences, including being the cause of her being fired. Adanne tenses whenever she works with John, but knows she needs this job. Adanne is also preoccupied by her nephew, who is in the hospital. Combine that with her parent's legacy to operate the local community center and give back to others around her., and Adanne is pulled in so many directions. Can she handle working with John? Whenever she is around John, she sees that he is different than he was in the past. However, can she get past the hurt and his fame? Can you even stand to be around him? John, on the other hand, struggles with his former life and is looking to continue in the path of his new life. It isn't easy but he is determined to persevere. Her Part to Play is an amazing story line that will keep you reading. I felt this book would make an excellent movie and hope that one day it becomes one. I loved the story line and happy ending in the end. Jenny Erlingsson writes in a compelling way that will keep the reader engaged and wanting more. I highly recommend.

Adanne is stretched in many different directions. She is a make-up artist for the stars, she is attempting to keep solvent the community center that her parents started, and she is providing both emotional and monetary support for her brother while his son is hospitalized. The one thing she doesn't want to be stretched toward is John Pope, a famous actor who in the past, caused her to lose her job, and tank her make-up artist career. But it seems like every time she turns around, she is being pushed toward John. Of course, John doesn't remember her, let alone that he ruined her career. But now he is paying a lot of attention to her despite her attempts to discourage him. He recently found the Lord, and sees Adanne and her faith as just who he needs in his new life. There are all kinds of things going on. From glamorous Hollywood events and parties, to the stress Adanne is under trying to single-handedly keep the community center open, along with all the other things she is juggling. The life and death struggle Adanne's nephew is in, along with her family history and parental loss, are heart-touching. Every time Adanne weakens and lets John in her life, something bad happens, and she raises up walls again. Misunderstandings, past disappointments, and break up attempts by a scheming friend, work together to keep these two apart, despite any love they feel for each other. The characters' faith is realistic, and a beautiful part of this tale. Prepare to be hungry when reading the descriptions of the amazing food they get to eat!
