The coating on these eggs was broken off into small pieces and leaking through the edges of the box when it arrived.

I agree whole heartedly with others who have noticed the change in the eggs. I have enjoyed these as a family favorite for years. Now- not only can you hardly find them- they are malted, flaky, and just not good. I have favorite Hershey candies for each season and these just disappoint- please bring the old formula back!!!!

Thank you for raising this concern and we are so sorry to hear that the quality of the eggs was not what you expected. Please be on the lookout for an email from us with additional information.

These are my absolute favorite! I love all Hershey milk chocolate, but, these are a step above. I personally like the shell crunchiness and flavor when combined with the chocolate inside! Wouldn't change a thing other than making them available year round!

I have bought the Hershey chocolate eggs in candy shell for years and years. They were my favorite Easter treat. But last year in 2023 I bought 5 bags and they did not taste the same. I actually thought they were expired because they tasted stale and were not crunchy but they weren't expired. Please bring back the old recipe/formula. Thank you

I wait all year to grab a few bags of these candy coated eggs. I have always greatly enjoyed them… I either missed them last year or my store still had stock of an older formula, not sure… but the ones I got today are NOT the same Hershey’s eggs I have always eaten. The candy “shell” is now shiny and almost waxy whereas before, it was matte and almost chalky feeling and they used to be smaller. I don’t know what you’ve done, but I will not be purchasing again. I will just stick with peeps for Easter candy in future.

I was disappointed when I bought these for Easter last year. The taste was off and the shell was not crunchy. Hersheys, is it the same recipe this year or did you bring the original recipe back?

Formula for the coating changed in 2023. Significantly worse candy coating. The original coating made it unique and a special treat for Easter. I won't be buying these in the future unless the formula is switched back.

Our family waits all year for this candy to appear during Easter. We purchase a large supply so the we can enjoy them throughout the year. We were shocked to find the coating recipe has changed and they are terrible. We will never buy them again.

My guess is whatever has changed has to do with it being cheaper these companies don't care about customers satisfaction just the almighty dollar but these were my favorite candy I would buy many bags so I had some for the whole year now they are chalky and just cheap tasting they do not have that crunch they used to have I will not be buying another bad dove makes a good alternative

The perfect candy was ruined this year! These have always been my absolute favorite candy and this year I excitedly bought 8 bags and I was certain it was a mishap with the first bag that the shells were soft, chalky, and not at all what I love about the candy coated eggs. I ended up opening all 8 bags to try some from each bag in hopes that I'd find the unflawed candy, but each bag had the same soft, chalky shell with an odd taste. So I went to another store to buy another bag and had the same experience. I usually buy many bags of candy coated eggs to have throughout the year and so I was extremely disappointed and maybe desperate. I bought 2 more bags in hope that it wasn't a recipe change and that I would find the eggs that I've been eating for years. All the bags I bought this year were the same soft, chalky shell and odd flavored eggs. I haven't thrown them all away cause that's alot of money and cause I keep hoping they'll taste better when I try them again. But the soft shell makes me think they will spoil. I didn't buy a supply to have throughout the year because yuck. I'm so bummed. And as dumb as it is, I'm worried they'll never be the same again. The original candy coated eggs were SO GOOD!

Something has definitely changed with the candy coated eggs. They aren’t as good as they use to be. I’m hopeful that the old recipe will be used next year. Please, they were so much better. We ate this candy every year at my grandparents house around Easter.

These are my favorite of all the Easter candies. Something definitely changed this year or there was a bad batch. I bought 2 different bags from 2 different stores over a month apart. Both batches were wrong. The blue eggs were chalky and did not have the final shiny coating that the other eggs had. There was a very noticeable visual and taste difference with the blue eggs only.

Every Easter I search for these tasty eggs. They've been my favorite. That is until the recipe for the candy coating changed. Now they are stale tasting. No more crunch. I won't be buying these again. Why change it????? So disappointing.

Out of all the holidays and all the candy these candy coated eggs are the only candy I buy. Every year I get SO excited and grab a few bags from the Easter display every time I go to the store. The texture and taste are totally off. I thought maybe I had a bad bag so tried the other two, sadly same situation. Such a waste of money and now no delicious little candy coated eggs to look forward to. Hershey, didn’t you ever learn “if it ain’t broke don’t fix it”. So so so so sad.
