Description
Hibiclens has been trusted by health care providers for over 40 years as a pre/post-operative antiseptic skin cleanser to help reduce the risk of infection. It’s strong enough to kill germs that live on the skin but gentle enough for routine family handwashing. Unlike regular soaps, Hibiclens not only begins killing germs immediately (1), it bonds safely with the skin and keeps on killing germs, even after washing. Its active ingredient, chlorhexidine gluconate provides extended protection against a wide range of bacteria that can cause infections (4) and leaves no sticky residue.
Whether you’re using it daily to protect your family from germs that live on the skin or as part of a pre/post-operative washing plan, you can trust Hibiclens! Make Hibiclens a part of your daily routine by keeping a bottle at sinks in your home, and make it a habit to wash your hands with it before heading out.
Hibiclens is for use only on the skin. Do not apply this medicine to deep cuts, scrapes, or open skin wounds. To use Hibiclens soap, apply only enough to cover the area you are treating. Wash the area gently, then rinse thoroughly with plain water. Please refer to Hibiclens Drug Facts label for full directions for use and indications.

Q: Is something like this Septic safe?
submitted by Kristen - 1 month ago
A: Hi Kristen! While we don’t typically hear of Hibiclens causing problems with sewer and septic systems, we can not guarantee this as septic system conditions can vary widely. Please use your best judgement depending on the condition of your specific septic system.

I use this when I need it and it's always been great for its purpose. The smell is a bit medicinal but does not last. My only complaint is that the pump is a bit finnicky sometimes.

I like the soap so far. I have hs and this was recommended by my doctor to help minimize issues. The pump is very convenient to use and keep in the shower. Like others have said I only wish they made a dye free version too.

I have HS, it is painful, embarrassing and well, overall an awful health condition to have. The only thing that seems to help calm down flares or even lessen flares is a combination of Epsom salt soaks and using Hibiclense daily on my flares and areas that are prone to flare. I am not a fan of the usual runny stuff, this foam is where it is at! I use much less with the foam and it is easier to get tricky areas. My only complaint is the dye, I really wish they had a dye-free option for the Hibiclense foam, it would be a huge game changer! Alternatively, I have tried an "off-brand" dye free foaming type of chlorhexidine and it was just awful! It smelled bad, dried out my skin and didn't seem to help much. So, here I am, I will probably use this foaming Hibiclense for the rest of my life since it is one of the few things that work! P.S. Seriously though, dye free! 😉

I suffer from Hidradenitis suppurativa( recurring boils)since I was 8 years old. A doctor recommended me getting this soap to help with breakouts and OMG it works so well!! When I seen target has it with a pump form it was a no brainer I wanted it. Sadly my pump was broken but I still was able to use the soap it’s just not foam liked more watery. Even though it’s broken I recommend the actual soak because it’s helped me have less breakouts.
STAINS SOME FABRIC.

We use this in our dental office and it kills staphylococcus. It's the soap I use for the kids coming home from school, shopping and before eating! I am allergic to bug bites and occasionally they get infected so this soap is my go to always. It's also great for acne too.
