Kids’ measuring guide

Use the tips & visuals in this guide to make taking your child's body measurements easy-peasy.

Dont have a fabric tape measure? Use a shoelace or pant leg to measure. Then, lay it flat & use a ruler or tape measure to get a numerical measurement.

How to measure

  • Height

    Have your child stand in front of the fridge.Mark the top of the head with a magnet. Measure a straight line from floor to magnet.

  • Chest

    Have your child make airplane arms. Wrap tape measure around the fullest part of the chest, keeping it level & snug.

  • Waist

    With your child bending to one side, measure the point where the waist flexes naturally. Keep the tape level & comfortably loose.

  • Hip

    Have your child stand like a tall tree with feet together. Measure a level line around the fullest part of the hips & seat.

  • Inseam

    Take a pair of pants that fit your child well. Measure along the seam from crotch to leg opening.

Q: What size should I buy my 18 month old and 27 month old?

  • A: Thank you for reaching out about our sizing. There is a small link to our size chart right above the size selection for your reference. Our XXS size will start with the numeric sizing of 2-3. This typically will fit a toddler ages 2-3. XS will fit a size 4, S will fit a size 5. I would suggest looking to see our infant styles that range from 0-3m to 18-24 in sizing. The XXS could fit your 27 month old, if you'd like to check the measurements on our size chart.

It’s very cute, but the quality is not great. The seams rip and open from washing (and yes, I followed instructions). This is the second H&H sweater this has happened to that I own.

Cute but really small!

Runs extremely small a little overpriced for the quality as well. I got a boys extra small for my 5yr old (just turned 5) who wears 5T/XS. Even after I'm buttoning the (which is really hard) it wouldn't even pass his head. Unfortunately I bought everyone's Christmas outfit to match this sweater and now they do not have any other sizes available. But definitely returning it.

Super cute and the quality looks good. Got it for holiday picture for my son and the size looks a bit bigger than your standard medium, but fits just about right with a little room for growth. The fabric feels good, a bit lighter than what I was expecting, more of a thin material but still soft.
