Q: Am I understanding correctly that this is 54 milk packs? It’s not clear if it’s 1 case of 18 which is expensive or 3 cases of 18 each.
submitted by Jamie - 7 months ago
A: It is 18 milk boxes. Thanks!

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] This boxed milk is shelf stable and comes in a single serving size. I try to have some in my pantry at all times in case I run out of refrigerated milk or if the power goes out during storms. The flavor is just like regular milk (good!). My only gripes are that it is expensive and can be hard to find in groceries.
Low fat milk in juice box - the BEST!

I don't drink milk, but I use it in cooking. Consequently, I used to buy a quart for a recipe, then toss the rest of the carton. Now, I am able to purchase these "juice boxes" and always have milk on hand when I need it. AND it's low fat and organic. Doesn't get any better than this!

FOLDABLE STRAWS AND WHY I WANT THEM GONE

So, one fine day I was at school and my friend went and sat down at our lunch table. He was drinking one of these organic milk cartons he'd brought to school that day (with the straw) and for some reason, I noticed the little message on the side of the carton "Done? Push the straw into the carton" (or something like that). I started thinking ya know? I was just wondering what the point of this straw was... I came up with nothing... So I asked him what he thought the straw was for. "So when you're taking out the trash, and it's kinda poking out, and it pokes your leg while walking to the can." Two problems with this: 1) No company would spend the time and money designing a two-part straw for a problem that 99% of people won't ever have, and 2) THAT is the most FIRST WORLD problem I have ever heard of in my ENTIRE life. So obviously that wasn't the answer. One of my other friends who was sitting at the table decided to chip in. "It's a safety issue, people can poke their eyes out with the straw." This couldn't be the issue because... well... a collapsable straw doesn't solve that problem? You can still poke your eye with it and also if you are dumb enough to poke your eye with the straw... you probably can't read the thing telling you how to put it in the carton. "Okay what about this... if you're running with the milk and swinging your arms like normally, you'll poke your eye with it." ...what? I mean seriously... what? Who runs with their arms so close to their eyes? Why are you running with milk? "You could be running to the trash can with it." If that's really a problem,,, just take out the straw... right? He couldn't come up with anything past that... so I keep thinking about it throughout the day... just trying to figure out why. Eventually, I bring it up to a 3rd party who hasn't heard of this whole thing before and he says maybe it's to put the straw in the carton and then pull it out for later use. This doesn't work though because for one you actually cant use the straw again once it's in the carton (it's stuck down there) and for another... WHY WOULD YOU WANT TO STORE IT LIKE THAT???? It makes NO SENSE at ALL. The only thing this is used for is putting the straw into the carton. THAT'S IT! The straw goes into the carton and now you can't compost it anymore because there's PLASTIC IN IT NOW! (I don't even know if you could compost it in the first place because I don't know if they use wax or plastic in the inner portion where the milk is but anyways). There is no feasible reason to spend money and around 1.5 times MORE plastic than a normal straw to do this! I just CANT UNDERSTAND WHY THE COMPANY WOULD DESIGN THIS!!!! IT'S SO DUMB! It's legitimately like they WANT to add MORE PLASTIC INTO THE WORLD! I JUST CANT GET IT. I CANT GET IT! CAN SOMEONE PLEASE EXPLAIN TO ME THE PURPOSE OF THIS?!?!?!!!! the milk is pretty good though

The milk is good. the packaging is the stupidest thing on the planet. when you open it it takes so much force to remove the foil wrap Milk squirts out all over you or the counter then when you try and pour a small amount into your coffee as you try and stop pouring it dribbles all over the counter. apparently they're too cheap to use the simple screw cap method used by their competition. and then of course there's no way to reseal the container

I would love to see this product with DHA in the whole milk or 2% milk boxes. My son loves the vanilla dha , however I'm trying to cut back on the sugar. Other than that I love the mobility of the boxes. Popem in my bag and go.

We bought a case recently because we are recent empty nesters and even a refrigerated quart seems to go bad before we can finish it. These look like the answer but would love an option without the plastic straw.

I bought these as an option for work. We have refrigerators at work but sometimes you just can't leave a milk carton in there for several reasons. Anyhow, I keep them in my locker and then just pop one in the fridge before I clock in so I can use it on my lunch break. I work 3rd shift and like to have cereal so these are just perfect. The chocolate is also very tasty as a snack when I just need need need chocolate. I have enjoyed the regular horizon milk (refrigerated) for years but was pleasantly surprised to discover these are equally as good. Thanks for a great product!

These are ok, but will you ever sell single serve whole milk or even 2%? My toddler drinks whole milk and I cannot fool her with this lowfat version.
We always keep a case in the cupboard, and the boys love it

Normally, we drink fresh milk from the grocery store (yes, Horizon's DHA whole milk), but sometimes you run out, and with little boys, we catch a lot of grief if there's no milk for the cereal. So, we make sure to have the shelf-stable boxes in the cupboard, either to pour over cereal or to pop a straw through to serve as a drink. Until they were about 5 and 7, we never heard a complaint if the milk was room temperature, though recently we've started moving them from the cupboard to the fridge. As far as the flavor, I'm not sure there's any difference at all, apart from the fact that this one's low-fat (and by the way, they need to say on this webpage if it's 1% or 2%... I feel like it's 1% but I'm not looking at a carton right now). Also, you have to remember not to let it expire; it takes a few months, so you've got time, but then you have to make a point of serving them and finishing off the case. It's a first-world problem! :-) They've also just come out with quart sizes, I see.

I bought the low-fat milk, and as soon as I took a sip, it was sickeningly sweet. I thought I was purchasing plain milk with no sugar added, but looking at the label showed otherwise. A reply to a previous review mentions the natural sugar from lactose, however the the ingredient list clearly has cane sugar listed as the second ingredient. Very disappointing that sugar was added and it was passed off as natural sugar to another reviewer.

My daughter has early morning volleyball practices so I pack a milk box for after practice. I like that it does not have to stay refrigerated (although I do because she likes it cold). My daughter will also mix it with protein powder before school since she doesn't want to eat a full breakfast after practice.

Awesome product! My family is always on the go. We like to spend a lot of our weekends outdoors. We do a lot of camping and these are an awesome option if you plan to make anything that requires milk. The chocolate milk is also a go to for the kids following soccer games to aid in recovery. Overall, we love them and definitely recommend them!

I was hesitant to try it at first because I love milk and couldn't imagine a product that doesn't need refrigerated could be as good as fresh milk. I was wrong! The versatility and convenience are great. Highly recommend you give it a try.
