Q: True the packaging leads you to believe its 100% grassfed.. but if this is indeed so, why is it missing the 'American grassfed' seal? We are paying a premium for this milk, and dont we deserve better

I'll be honest. I really don't care if a milk is grass fed or Organic. I happened to try Horizon grass fed when it was on sale just to see what it tastes like. Now the store brand milk tastes like water to me. I use the Horizon grassfed now for my coffee creamer and cooking. I probably only drink 4-5 ounces of milk a day. But when I do, it is so yummy. I do realize it costs more. But, wouldn't you spend more on a wine or beer you really like? ( I'm from Wisconsin). I am at the age where I need to be thinking about getting more calcium in my diet. So glad I found Horizon.

Don’t really know what this company was thinking when they put fish oil and algae oil in milk. Remember when milk was just milk? Fishy taste and weird aftertaste turns me away from the milk I use to swear by. Now I unfortunately buy the ‘knock off’ that doesn’t taste weird, not organic but also not fishy.

Here are the requirements to be CERTIFIED by the American Grassfed Association. This milk does seem to be 'certified'. FORAGE PROTOCOL 3.1.2 Grass and forage must be the feed source consumed for the lifetime of the ruminant, except for milk consumed prior to weaning. The diet must be derived solely from forage appropriate to the species: a) Grass (annual and perennial), b) Forbs (e.g. legumes, brassicas), c) Browse, or d) Cereal grain crops harvested in the pre-dough stage. e) Harvested forages SUPPLEMENTAL FEEDING 3.3.1 AGA Grassfed Dairy ruminants may be fed while on pasture or as necessary when removed from pasture as per §3.2.7 or at milking time: a. hay & haylage b. balage c. silage* d. forage products* e. crop residue without grain f. small grains harvested in the pre-dough stage g. roughage* h. approvedAGAforageproductsandsupplementfeedstuffs,AppendixA, 3.3.5 Intentional feeding of grain or any banned feedstuffs listed in Appendix C to AGA Grassfed ruminants is prohibited and may result in loss of certified grassfed status.

Where are the other grassfed milks Target used to carry!?? Horizon is the worst brand of grassfed milk I have ever tried. Disgusting and does NOT taste grassfed. I don’t trust this company at all. They have a million different milks with gimmicky labels. Will never buy again. Target STOP getting rid of everything decent! They seriously have reduced stock of products to only trash. No thank you. I will drive further and pay extra to not buy your cheap poor quality garbage.

WHAT IS HORIZON HIDING?

I had assumed that Horizon's grass-fed milk was 100% grass-fed until the recent packaging change. Now Horizon claims that this milk is both grass-fed and pasture-raised. Yet, I've spent hours going around in circles trying to determine exactly what Horizon means by "grass-fed." It's incredibly slick the way they have avoided addressing the issue anywhere. They say that their cows spend 150 days on the pasture, but that's less than half the days in a year! What are they eating the remaining 200 days or so? I'm fairly certain now that these cows are eating significant amounts of grain and other things besides grass. Why won't Horizon simply admit this, and give a percentage of the amount of grass in their diets? And I noticed that someone on this forum specifically asked this question and that it was ignored, while nearly every other question or concern was addressed by Horizon. Bottom line: I will no longer be drinking anything but milk that is labeled 100% grass-fed. And Horizon clearly doesn't want people to know that their milk is not 100% grass-fed, taking advantage of these vague and unregulated terms to deceive their customers.
