Q: Our young grandson wants a gaming computer. Can this Chrome Book be used as a starter device for him?
A: no does not update i cant use mine to game or even edit enymore please dont get it
submitted bySTAR - 9 months agoA: No. There's not enough RAM or storage for good game playing. This is a great starter computer and it doesn't have much internal memory because it uses Google cloud for most the storage and many times there's a fee for keeping a lot of files on the cloud

However, you should check the system requirements of the games your grandson wants to play, to verify that they are compatible with the Chrome operating system and that the RAM is sufficient.

A: NO DOSE NOT UPDATE mine is so outdated not worth it !!!!!

It is easy to check your AUE (Auto-Update Expiration) date by selecting About ChromeOS, and then Additional Details. In the section Update Schedule, you will see that AUE date. It will depend on the type of classes you are taking and what programs will be required as they may need different specs or even require a specific OS. You will want to reach out to the teachers or the school to see what sort of requirements they have and if they can give you a spec sheet to match a unit up with it.
