[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I have had this axe for over a year and absolutely adore it. It is small and light enough to take hiking and camping without sacrificing performance. I have used it for a myriad of tasks ranging from actual carving to splitting kindling and even felling some smaller trees (~ 16cm diameter and smaller). The handle came a bit rough but sandpaper and linseed oil are a quick and easy solution to the problem. I have had no issues with sharpening nor head loosening. I would highly recommend this axe for carving, smaller wood processing, camping, hiking, and bushcraft related activities.
Recent purchase as a log home building axe

This is a recent purchase, but, have put it to work to see how it works for me as a log home builder. Out of the box, a nice looking smaller carpenters axe. Came with a very...nice sheath with a nice thick welt. The overall look, fit and design are very nice, as it fits well in the hand with good balance. The hickory handle has some of the best grain orientation I have seen. The axe head is a very nice design for carpentry work with a nice thin longer blade with a cutting edge of about 4 1/4". The cutting edge came somewhat sharp, and I believe this is done as so you can sharpen it up the way you want for your uses. I sharpened mine to a 1/2" flat 20 degree bevel razor sharp and its a perfect cutter for sure. My only, and I mean only complaint is that the cutting edge doesn't line up with the handle, not bad, but, it should line up on an axe for carpentry uses. Overall this is a lot of carpentry axe for the monies. I truly believe if Husqvarna or the company making this for them were to make a slightly larger similar shape carpentry axe, with say the same handle, same eye and poll and with a cutting edge of say 5 1/2" and length from cutting edge to poll of perhaps 7 1/2" they would have a real winner and huge seller even at twice this price.
Classic carpenter axe--not easy to find.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] This is an exemplary carpenter's axe with a thin bevel. Good for shaving and slicing--not a felling or kindling splitting axe. Nice traditional Swedish styling in the rough-forged look with strong appeal to our western market.

I use the Carpenters hatchet for bushcraft/ camp chores. The flat edge profile makes it ideal for notching and shaving. I like the weight as well it is heavy enough to do the job and remain agile. The handle length is just right for the head. The eye makes for an awkward grip on the handle when choking up. This is easily fixed with a rasp. The blade was properly heat treated as it holds it edge well for a medium carbon steel. Won’t camp without it.
Long lasting

I did touch it up a bit, but it is very sharp with only 20min on the bench. No crazy chemical coatings to scrape off either. The thin profile cuts exceedingly well, far better than my much larger Council Tool axe. Bottom line is this thing is handy like a pocket on a shirt. Fits in most places you'd like to keep any other tool. Very nice leather sheath too. I would buy this again, and I am about to shop for another product.
Okay I guess

The grind looks like it was done on a Friday afternoon after lunch in the pub, terrible job! The handle grain direction is good and the hang is just okay. A little skewed to one side but that would sand out mostly. I may try to fix the poor grind or I may just send it back and buy a Granfors Bruks
So stoked

Bringing this axe up to a higher quality is fun, and it's personal. You get to build a great relationship with the axe before even using it.

I use this axe every day at work. It's the best axe I have ever owned. Setting wedges, cutting brush, and falling up to 18 inch trees. This axe is always up to work. I will pass this axe on to my kids.
