Husqvarna Lawn Mower Mulching Kit

It’s misleading to advertise the product with components that aren’t provided. Definitely not worth the price for just three blades and a flimsy side cover—you’re better off finding a more affordable kit elsewhere.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I put the mulching kit on last weekend and mowed without issue! Today 8/25/24 it picked up a small rock and shattered the plastic cover! I DO NOT recommend you get this! The cover should be made out of the same metal the deck is! The plastic shot everywhere and I'm lucky it didn't hit me in the face! Very dumb idea to use cheap plastic. I do like the way the mulching blades work! Until it's metal DON'T WASTE YOUR MONEY!!

Only received 3 mulch blades. No mulch cover, hardware or instructions.

Then Husqvarna mulch Kit HU46 (Mulch Kit Fits Z246 Zero-Turn and TS 146XK & YTH22V46 Tractors). Was a perfect fit for my YTH22V46. The mulching cover was made from, good quality and durable materials. The blades worked very well with the mulching cover on. The blades also preformed well with the normal deflector cover as well. Overall I was very satisfied with the product and the delivery of the product.

This is garbage the two parts pictured on the right and keep grass from getting trapped no longer come with the kit the parts you do get don't cut good leave strips of grass uncut and the trapped grass unloaded the second you go onto any hard surfaces leaving more clean up after mowing

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Wish I could give it a 0 star! With the mulching plates installed, grass collects under the right side so badly that it will even stop the engine. If you stop and turn the blades off it will leave a pile of grass 3 feet across and at least 4” deep. Not sure at all how this was designed. I have tried just using the marching blades and taking the plates off. Grass then flies up from underneath the deck and all directions and completely covers you in grass while you are riding. Totally lost as to how to fix this issue.

I paid for this item and now it's stuck in shipment and can't speak to anyone to get update or cancel the order. Everyone wants to do automated system and not give you a way to cancel or tell them what's the issue.

I purchased this kit for my TS 248XD from a dealer and self installed. I presume the mulch plate in this kit is intended to be used with their bagging system because with the mulch plate installed and with no bagger, this kit is somewhat worthless besides the discharge chute blocker. Despite being properly installed, the grass builds up quite extensively in the gap between the deck and the mulch plate; creating a nice shelf for all the grass clippings to accumulate. For a period of 2 months I attempted to work around this build up by: cutting more frequently, cutting the same area using multiple passes at a progressively lower level until it reached the length I was after, etc. Nothing I have found thus far will stop the build up. It got to the point where I would regularly have to manually remove the grass, filling a 5-gallon bucket, after each cut; using the cleaning port only resulted in a soupy mess of grass clippings. If you buy this kit and do not intend to bag the clippings, my suggestion would be to omit installing the mulch plate and only install the blades & discharge chute blocker. After having removed the plate I have had a significantly better experience with mulching on my 248XD. The grass falls back into the lawn, as expected, and I no longer need to manually clean the grass out of the deck, instead using the cleaning port is working just fine.

I have to agree with another reviewer. I have the same problem with grass building up under the deck that if I stop and turn off the pto it will not start until I remove most of the grass.I could understand if I let it go but this does it after three days with the blade height set on 4. It also only builds up on the right side, I tried removing the plate but that's not the answer.I was very careful putting the blades in the right direction but I guess I'll check again if only one other reviewer is having the same issue

why you stopped listing the part numbers on the items? not helpful at all

Installed this kit on my Z248F and it works very well except for one thing. The mulch plate. It is not secured to the deck as it should be and can easily be bent or distorted when it catches something. I've also been plagued with small sticks that lodge themselves between the deck and the plate because the plate is mounted in a way that anything harder than grass can push between the deck and plate.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I bought the kit for my Ts242xd mower. It does the job well and the plastic piece is thick and sturdy. The blades that came with it were not sharpened, but perform better than the Oregon Gator blades by far.

The first kit The dealer installed did fabulous, but this kit is also required for the bagged. which i bought. the problem is that, like a previous user, the metal plates will catch the ground and bend into the blades. I found it to be a problem with securement. On the right side of the plate it is only secured to the deck with one bolt, the next bolt that attaches to the deck is on the smaller thinner left side peice. while thernis a carriage bolt hole to be used on the plate, the second going from right to left. it is not used on the 48in clearcut deck. There is a small plate on the deck to attach to but the plate on the deck has no hole. The solution I came up with was to mount the entire thing onto the deck and drill out a hole using the carriage bolt hole as a marker amd to install my own bolt. I havent had a problem using it since i made the modification but Husqvarna really failed in either not telling the dealers to do this or not making the hole themselfs in the deck. My first time using my tractor with the bagger and this plate caught a stump, bent the plate into the blades and stopped the tractor dead. This was after that plate kept catching uneven ground and trying to bulldoze the deck into the dirt, it just finally found something to bend it. Other than that securement problem this thing really does the trick. without the bagher on it and without the cap on it throws leaves and clippings a good 50 feet and increases the airflow significantly.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I use the mulching kit for all but the last few mowings each season. The mulching blades work well and the cover makes sure the clippings drop straight below the mowing deck.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] When installing found the instructions were a bit vague but simple enough to figure out. To install the cover, the front retainer is good and snug. Blade change was straight forward.
