Q: I live in zip code 33473 and need to know what zone I'm in and if I can order hydrangeas from You.

submitted by Lena - 7 months ago
  • A: Hi Lena, thanks for reaching out. You can look up your hardiness zone by using the USDA website - it says there that your zip code is within zone 10b. Hydrangeas will each have different hardiness zones, so just look at each listing your are interested in to see if its listed as being hardy in zone 10.

Q: I have ordered these plants three times now which is 9 plants I still don’t have a live one. The last batch came with brown leaves live they got over wet. Is this a common problem when buying plants that ship through the mail?

submitted by Michele - 9 months ago
  • A: Hi Michele, plants are indeed living things that are sensitive to being in a dark box for extended period of time without light or water and are at the mercy of the postal carriers that handle and deliver them. Hydrangeas are often watered before being shipped because they are extremely sensitive to dry conditions and will quickly reach their permanent wilt point (meaning they will not recover) if they don't get watered quickly enough.

Q: I'm in zone 9, will this plant die in winter? Can plant it in sunny area (south side) or will it be better planted uner the tree?

submitted by Beth - 10 months ago
  • A: Hi Beth, thanks for reaching out. This plant is hardy in zones 5-10. I would not recommend planting directly under a tree, as the root systems will compete. I hope you find this answer to be helpful!

Q: The plants I received are about 2 inches tall and 3 inches wide. They are so tiny I put them in pots so they do not get lost in the garden. Zone 10. How fast will they grow and when should they bloom?

submitted by Nanco - 11 months ago
  • A: Hydrangeas will grow fast depending on location and these plants typically bloom from late spring to fall.

Q: If I order in winter, and keep inside, when should I plant outside. In zone 7

submitted by KCRN57 - 1 year ago
  • A: Hi KCRN57, thanks so much for reaching out! You can safely plant outside once the threat of frost has passed and night-time temperatures remain above 50 degrees. I hope you find this answer to be helpful!

Q: When to prune plant ? How to care for them !

submitted by Julie - 6 years ago
  • A: The best time to prune is while they are dormant, late fall, winter or early spring. You will receive a detailed planting and care guide with the plant that will detail how to care for them.

Q: Should the 3 hydrangea plants be planted together?

submitted by Sherri - 7 years ago
  • A: They do not have to be planted together. They will grow to be three healthy, individual plants.

Q: What is the warranty?

submitted by Kbrown10 - 7 years ago
  • A: There is a 90 day warranty.

Q: How long will it take for the plants to bloom after I receive them and plant them? What is the size of each of the three plants? Can these be planted in pots? Are these similar to endless summer hydrangeas that will continue to bloom in the fall in NY?

submitted by Nmc - 7 years ago
  • A: Depending on when you purchase these plants will depend on how long it will take for them to bloom. If you purchase then in the near future it will take about two months. These plants will bloom this summer. The plants are in 4" containers and are 6-8 inches tall. Depending on when you purchase them they may be smaller due to pruning or maybe even taller. The hydrangeas are repeat blooming hydrangeas that set blooms on both old and new growth and they will bloom in the fall in NY.

Q: Will my plant be small or somewhat mature when I get it

submitted by Sherri - 8 years ago
  • A: Your plants will be well rooted and approximately 3" to 6" tall when they are shipped.

I tried to put in 1 star but the default is 5 stars so it accidentally recorded as 5 stars multiple times when I tried to rate it with 1 star. They arrived with half the leaves green and half the leaves black and dead but the photo makes them look better than they were. The black leaves look more like shadows but they were dead leaves. It was so dry and lifeless when removed from the packaging. Mulch and Miracle Gro Flower Boost purchased with it and lots of attention, water and love has not revived these plants. Unless you like the challenge of reviving dead plants, skip this. Very frustrating purchase and poor quality.

I order 4 of these, so I received 12 total. These arrived black and slimy. I put them in partial sun, picked off the sickly leaves, and transplanted them the next day. Within two days, they were black and slimy again. I reached out to target with hopes of connecting with the nursery for help. My only option given is to dig them up, and return to my local store for a refund. These have been nothing but trouble

Hello J Diaz - We sincerely apologize for the experience you had with your hydrangea. If you could, could you please send me and email with your growing location (city, state) and a photo of the problems you're having with your plants? Thank you - National Plant Network

My plants took 4 days to arrive and were very thirsty and wilted upon arrival. They were on the smaller side, but are perfect for the price. Once they were placed in the ground they seemed happier, and are doing very good after being fertilized and properly cared for. I hope they make it through the Winter and are alive next Spring.

All plants were healthy looking upon receipt and planting on the same day as received. As of today, they continue to thrive with adequate water and nourishment.

They didn’t look good after shipping. Leaves had black holes/stains but after watering and 3 days under the lamp at 6hr/day they’re fine.

The plants are very small compared to the hydrangeas you see at hardware stores- only about 5 inches. I suspect it will be a couple years before they grow to any significant size and/or bloom. Two of the three plants arrived in good shape. The third looked like someone had stepped on that part of the box. The plant looked damaged and much of the dirt had fallen out of the pot, so it was dry and wilted. I kept them all inside a few days while I pulled off dead leaves, added new soil and gave them plenty of water and sun. The damaged one recovered nicely, and I was able to plant them. The plants were a great price, so I guess you get what you pay for in the size department. The other issues were not with how it was packaged, but how it was transported.

Plants arrived quickly and in great condition. They have already doubled in size in just a month. Can't wait to see what they look like as they mature over the next few seasons. I just placed another order with Cottage Hill Nursery through Target.com for some Leyland Cypress 'Shorties' and am looking forward to their arrival and doing more business with Cottage Hill in the future.
