About the Book
Grief naturally follows loss, but we do not have to be stuck in negative spaces forever. These biblical mental health techniques help you understand your emotions, accept your new reality, and step into the future, stronger.Book Synopsis
Navigate Through Grief with Biblical Mental Health ToolsWhen you suffer a loss, you enter the realm of "used to be." You used to be married. You used to be employed. You used to be pregnant, secure, healthy, sober, thin. You used to be a son or daughter, a brother or sister, a mother or father. And in that used-to-be space there is deep emptiness, loneliness, and sorrow. It's a place we all dwell for a while. But it's not a place in which we are meant to remain.
The path forward includes exploring the unseen elements of grief. With this book, pastor Chuck Elliott and counselor Ashley Elliott light the way to a better future. Sharing biblical advice and proven mental health techniques, they help you learn how to fully feel and face your grief, hold onto your faith, and develop healthy ways to see yourself, your life, and your loved ones. They offer coping strategies for when moving forward seems impossible and guide you toward building new thinking patterns that will result in true healing and growth.
Maybe you "used to be" something--but there is a future waiting when you "will be" once more.

I started reading this book with the intention of learning a few things about how to help other people in their grief. Little did I know how much the book would actually apply to my own life, and help me learn to better communicate my own struggles with other people and have deeper relationships with those around me. Living in this world, one can guess that probably most people have some sort of grief in their life; it is just unavoidable. Also, considering the nature of humanity, it is likely that most people have had hurt in their life. Some of us cope by completely shutting down and sinking deeply into depression, some of us cope by doing destructive things like drugs or alcohol, some of us build walls around ourselves so that we don't chance being rejected which creates loneliness. This book addresses all of those things and more while also giving so many tools to help bring healing. They (the authors) do this by giving many real life, relatable examples. This is definitely going to be a book I keep on hand to pass out to others who need some healthy encouragement, and for myself to reference from time to time.
