Description
Igloo's new RECOOL cooler was created to provide an alternative to environmentally harmful foam coolers. Made entirely from biodegradable materials, RECOOL can biodegrade and return to the Earth after use, rather than polluting our environment or filling a landfill. RECOOL is durable and won't chip or scratch easily or make annoying squeaking noises like foam coolers. RECOOL has a 16 quart capacity which is big enough to fit plenty of drinks, ice, and food for an all-day adventure for a family of four. Cup holders and an easy-grab handle are built into the lid and the cooler features molded handles on the sides, making it easy to grab and go. RECOOL is patent pending and made right here in the USA!

Q: Can I use ice packs in this, instead of ice? Will it keep items frozen?

A: Hi JD, thanks for your question regarding the Igloo Recool 16qt Cooler. Ice blocks can be used to keep things cold instead of ice, and you won't have the melted ice mess. But there's a lot of variables at play in determining whether frozen items will stay frozen (whether using ice or ice blocks) - like how many times the lid is opened, outside temperature conditions, etc. Hope this helps to answer your question!

We desperately need an alternative to styrofoam coolers but this isn't it. Ice completely melted within two hours on a 70-degree day in the shade. The lid doesn't fit at all. Absolutely pointless. We might as well have dumped the ice on the ground and stuck our drinks in it for all the good this "cooler" did.

I was so happy to find a short term cooler that wasn’t styrofoam, and this worked for us for a week in West Texas. No leaks at all, a good size, lightweight and easy to carry. We dumped the ice every night and let the cooler dry out before refilling in the morning (food in a fridge overnight.) Would definitely buy again.

Great value for the money! We needed to purchase something disposable to use in the car on our yellowstone vacation and this was perfect! We expected it to leak so we put ice in a plastic bag. Well the bag leaked but the cooler didn’t. Ice mostly melted by the end of each day but everything stayed cool, so it did the job for us. We used it for 5 days and it was still like new. Some other reviews said the lid was too small but ours fit nice and tight. This is not a cooler for a hot weekend out in the sun, but for a day trip in the car: 5 stars!

The lid doesn't begin to fit the cooler. It is too small. Therefore, there are huge gaps all along the top and nothing stays frozen.

This little cooler is extraordinary! I used it for a beach trip today and dumped ice in it for over 9 hours and most of my ice is still there! The material doesn’t get soggy or leak and it is sturdy!! I also like the fact that it’s reusable and recyclable. Get it if you’ve been on the fence.
