Description
Keep your above-ground pool water clean, fresh, and sparkling with the Intex 26679EG 16-inch Krystal Clear Saltwater System and Sand Filter Pump. The all-natural sand provides excellent water filtration as the 6-function control valve allows the pool owner to filter, backwash and rinse, recirculate, drain, and close the system. The built-in 24-hour timer adds to the hassle-free experience with maintaining a cleaner pool.
The Krystal Clear Sand Filter Pump generates a pump flow rate of 2,650 gallons per hour, ideal for above-ground pools. Equipped with the Ground Fault Circuit Interrupter, which is an added safety feature that shuts off the pump if electrical current is exposed to water. This effective pump requires virtually no maintenance except the replacement of sand every 5 years.
With the Saltwater System’s electrocatalytic oxidation process, water molecules are split into oxidants that help keep the water clean. The amount of Sodium Hypochlorite generated by the saltwater system is reduced by approximately 60%, much less than other saltwater systems generate.
Enjoy the same process used at many resorts in your own pool with the 16-inch Intex Krystal Clear Sand Filter Pump and Saltwater System.

I bought this filter in Latvia at the DEPO store. It didn't even last one summer. In the warranty repair, they said there was sand inside (even though it’s a sand filter) and hair (since people swim in the pool). They also referred to the technical documentation, claiming that the filter was used against the regulations—meaning outdoors. Never mind that this filter is meant for an outdoor pool. It turns out that the filter can only be used indoors or under a shelter, where it won’t be exposed to rain, pool splashes, or anything similar. You can also see in other comments that people had the same problem as I did—it would regularly shut off and eventually stopped working completely. It seems that the automation doesn’t function properly. In short, if this filter breaks after one summer, the warranty will be completely useless, as there are plenty of reference points for why they won’t repair it under warranty. In the end, I didn’t even understand what the real issue was—whether it was the sand in the filter or the fact that water got into it. It seems like they wrote down every possible excuse just to avoid repairing it.

Bought the sand filter and saltwater system 14 months ago and used for 4 months when the electrode failed. Conveniently, this single part only has a 1 year warranty, and is 2/3 the cost of the whole system. Certainly will be the last piece of Intex equipment I buy. If you’re thinking about an Intex saltwater system, don’t. Run the other way!

We're sorry to hear about your experience. The titanium electrode is covered under a 1-year warranty. We understand your frustration and appreciate your feedback.
Makes chlorine, then slowly stops. Pump is good

I got a year out of the pump, they sent me two salt cells because they thought that was the problem with it. Now the pump kicks on and off about every 10 seconds. I believe this is because the sale cell board in the pump went bad. Now they are sending me a new pump. I hope the new pump will fix the lack of chlorine generation and allow me to stop buying chlorine. The sand filter works well and the pump is very strong. I will update this once I receive the new pump. Intex as a company has been good for repair parts, although they make you jump through some hoops. I have had Intex pools for about 20 years. They are cheaper than an in the ground but some times just as much of a headache at a cheaper price.

Quality is terrible. I've had to replace the control module/motor twice after one year each. the motor works fine, but the module that controls the salt processing fails far too quickly. My pump is in a pump house and out of the weather, but that doesn't seem to matter. When it works -its great, but doesn't last
Just what we needed

It is actually75hp very strong, using it on a summer wave 22x52 and does great. A little pricey for intex but will see how long it last. It as a 2 yr warranty I haven't had the best luck on intex products.

Great product that we used for few months last year. We started it up this year and everything seemed to be fine until the first storm (the filter was off at that time). Even though the filter is under the roofed area, the water has made its way to the pump and after drying it for three days in a row it started but the display is gone. Intex crew is not responding to my inquires. Moral of the story - keep your filter covered and out elements, because it is not sealed.
