Description

Keep your above-ground pool water clean, fresh, and sparkling with the Intex 26679EG 16-inch Krystal Clear Saltwater System and Sand Filter Pump. The all-natural sand provides excellent water filtration as the 6-function control valve allows the pool owner to filter, backwash and rinse, recirculate, drain, and close the system. The built-in 24-hour timer adds to the hassle-free experience with maintaining a cleaner pool. The Krystal Clear Sand Filter Pump generates a pump flow rate of 2,650 gallons per hour, ideal for above-ground pools. Equipped with the Ground Fault Circuit Interrupter, which is an added safety feature that shuts off the pump if electrical current is exposed to water. This effective pump requires virtually no maintenance except the replacement of sand every 5 years. With the Saltwater System’s electrocatalytic oxidation process, water molecules are split into oxidants that help keep the water clean. The amount of Sodium Hypochlorite generated by the saltwater system is reduced by approximately 60%, much less than other saltwater systems generate. Enjoy the same process used at many resorts in your own pool with the 16-inch Intex Krystal Clear Sand Filter Pump and Saltwater System.

This rating is for the 26669EG model I purchased in 2020. Overall, I am a satisfied customer. I use this unit in combination with a Hayward Powerflo Matrix Pump and Hayward sand filter for my 10,400 gallon Yardmore Saltwater LX above ground pool I have had to replace parts. I purchased a new 12659EG control module because I flooded and completely submerged the original purchased, so it understandably stopped working. Also had to replace the titanium electrode twice, failed once in the middle of summer 2022, then again in fall 2024 (was covering my pool for the winter a couple of weeks after that, anyway). So, figure on having to purchase new electrodes to make the chlorine production work every two years. I keep salt at about 3200 ppm. Other than that, the only things I do to treat pool is broadcast several pounds of baking soda a couple of times through the summer and add algaecide every couple of weeks starting usually in mid-July, water stays completely transparent. Friend who lives across town is constantly fighting to adjust her chemicals and keep above ground pool from turning green while I frankly do very, very little for weekly (or even monthly) pool maintenance during swim season. Is this a perfect product that's going to give you years of worry-free operation? No. However, the alternative of dealing with (and the constant cost of) adding chlorine is frankly worth it for me.

    Stopped worked after 4 month

I bought this filter in Latvia at the DEPO store. It didn't even last one summer. In the warranty repair, they said there was sand inside (even though it’s a sand filter) and hair (since people swim in the pool). They also referred to the technical documentation, claiming that the filter was used against the regulations—meaning outdoors. Never mind that this filter is meant for an outdoor pool. It turns out that the filter can only be used indoors or under a shelter, where it won’t be exposed to rain, pool splashes, or anything similar. You can also see in other comments that people had the same problem as I did—it would regularly shut off and eventually stopped working completely. It seems that the automation doesn’t function properly. In short, if this filter breaks after one summer, the warranty will be completely useless, as there are plenty of reference points for why they won’t repair it under warranty. In the end, I didn’t even understand what the real issue was—whether it was the sand in the filter or the fact that water got into it. It seems like they wrote down every possible excuse just to avoid repairing it.

good morning it's another beautiful day in paradise. i was finally able to get my intex unit up and running on auto. the reason it took so long was because my old intex unit went down and told me that i had low salt. i put in a 40lb. bag and it still read low salt, this went on for a total of 4 bags, then i realized my unit was sending me faulty readings. it took a couple of weeks of draining about 1 inch oer day and then refilling the pool. it's up and running great now thanks terry

Bought this unit in 2022 with the intention of using it for the 2023 season. Worked fine in 2023. This year (2024), not so much. Started throwing the 91 code (low salt) in the beginning of August. Added the 20 lbs of salt the manual said to add when low salt light comes on, and turned the unit back on. Stays on for less than 5 minutes, and then 91 comes back on. I have already took it apart and cleaned it (it wasn't even dirty or had any kind of build up on it), all to no avail. This is the second unit that we have bought in 5 years (the other one lasted a little longer) but we're thinking of throwing in the towel. If I had read the other reviews, I probably would have never bought the second one. Not worth the money!

Works well, but 2 small problems

My previous chlorinator was very good but died aged 20. Technology has clearly advanced and the price has dropped. This appears to be a good and much cheaper replacement. However there are two aspects which could be improved. The programed operation repeats every 24 hours, but there is no clock and it is only possible to program a fixed number of hours from the moment of programming. It is also not possible to see the start time. A soft copy of the instructions is only available on the Czech website as the copy on the US website is for another version and also is a corrupted file.
1 reply from Intex Consumer Service team - 5 months ago
Thank you for your feedback! We're glad the new chlorinator serves as a cost-effective replacement. We appreciate your suggestions for improvement and will pass them along. We're sorry about the instruction issue and will work on resolving it.

Best decision I made to go saltwater with the QS40

I purchased the generator at the end of the summer of 23', I didn't install it on the 500 gallon pool at that time though. Because the old freestanding 500 gallon pool was small for the grandkids, I purchased an Intex 10' 1100 gallon pool. I installed the salt water generator as soon as I set this new pool up around May 24'. I let it run for a week or so before taking a water sample to a local pool company for analysis. I needed to extend the run time, add more salt and add another chemical. The instructions for the QS400 state for my size pool the generator should run about 3 hours. I have found that I have it set to 7 hours to work for the level chlorine I am happy with in the pool. Following a heavy rain or heavy use by the grandkids, I add a bit of shock. Beyond these things, the generator has been great!. Much less maintenance than having to add chlorine tablets and keep checking on levels. The pool has remained clear and seems to be holding chemical levels, per test strips. Very happy with the purchase and trouble free use of the pool compared to previous years.

had my set up running now for about 3 months now, I would love to give 5 stars but the only and I mean only issue I have is I cannot put this on a timer with my pump. what I mean is my sand filter and pump I have set up on a Wi-Fi timer which comes on and turns off at specific times. turn it on. The unit when turned on will come on again 24hr later which is great IF THE POWER DOESNT GO OUT. When the power goes out you then need to manually push the power button to get the system to turn back on. Very easy if your home you just have to remember to turn it back on at the time your pump is running. This would be great to be able to have it on the timer so when the power goes out and comes back on the system will still turn on at the time its supposed to. great unit but could use that upgrade to allow when its plugged in its on rather than a push button why not a toggle switch?
