Q: Why did they change the smell? I've been using the original for years and the previous scent smelled a ton better!

A: Thanks for this question. I thought that I had bought a different scent by accident. This new smell is HORRIBLE. I will no longer buy this soap because of it. Plus no heads up.

Guys the company is trying to scam all of us by calling their “original clean” , and labeling it as “original” now… Nothing original about it, smells horrible and melts into nothing in 2-3 showers Save your time and money and get the real deal Dove if you want a moisturizing soap , or get ivory or coast if you want a solid deodorizing soap… This company failed us in February 2022 when they changed the formula for no reason , and came up with this garbage product You would be better off taking a shower with dawn dish soap , at least it smells clean, and not like a toilet bowl

“Original” was allergy safe for my husband. Bulk purchased for decades. “Original” disappeared from the shelves, we bought the “Original Fresh” which he borderline tolerates. Ruined his shower joy. My guess: 2K+ reviewers that liked the new scents never had the opportunity to enjoy real Original in the shower. You messed up.

I've been using Irish Spring bar soap for over 50 years ( 20 years in the military and the rest civilian) and to tell you the truth, I honestly never noticed the formula change. I guess is does lather less but the scent seems the same and I've always like the smell of Irish Spring. I'll tell you why I knocked off 1 star in the rating, the soap bar always seems to break (long ways) when it gets to about 1/8 of the bar. I still will use this soap, been using most my life. I always thought it was made out east in the U.S. by American workers and was very disappointed to see on the box it was made in Mexico, was that always the case?

I’d give the new soap a 0 if I could. I’ve been using it since it first came out. I’ve been using aloe for many years. My wife bought aloe mist thinking it was just a new name. I opened the first bar and it smelled terribly of perfume so we next bought classic thinking it was the original but that also smells terrible. I don’t know why companies think they have to change products that have been used for years. If you want to make soap with perfumes that smell awful make a new line and keep the old lines for customers who want them. Must have been thought up by the people that came up with "new Coke". I will be buying another brand from now on. What a waste of my money..

Just purchased two 20 bar cases of what I thought was "Original" Irish Spring bar soap. It'll be returned immediately. Lots of false advertising going on with calling this "Original." Not even close. A very poor example of even a "New" formula. Did Colgate-Palmolive hire the same person that tried to change the "Original" Coke formula. I'll be rethinking my stock portfolio as well! With one bad decision, comes others. Good Luck

After 3 days of headaches, I found the smell was coming from unused boxes of Irish spring Original Clean soap my husband had put under the counter in the bathroom. He had always used Irish spring soap, but these went to the trash-all eight bars. The odor is sickening, so we will have to find another brand.

Very sad to see the scent has changed! I always have a hard time finding Irish Spring Original, so I buy in bulk. The last time I bought some was a couple of years ago. I just bought three 12 packs of the Original Clean a few months ago, because I only had a few bars left. I bought it thinking it was the Original scent, just to find out it smells nothing like the fresh, nice smell I'm used to. I hoped I just accidentally bought the wrong scent, but Google, and this website, confirmed my favorite scent is gone. Why change a good thing? And if you're going to change the scent as much as you did, keeping "Original" in the name is shady and misleading.

Not a fan of the new bar containing flax seed. Seems to have changed the scent too. The original was fine; smelled great and lathered well. Why mess with a product that was so good in the first place?
