Great Sound, Great Build

5 out of 5 stars

I bought these a few months ago before a long trip. The sound quality is great (especially for drum & bass and jungle) and the battery lasts forever. The ANC isn’t the best, but it does the job on noisy flights. Now, these things may be great but they are not why I am leaving this review. I recently moved back to a small island in Thailand where I ride a motorbike everywhere, usually with headphones or earbuds in. The Live feature is great for listening to music and traffic around me. But even that’s not why I am leaving this review. A few days ago, I was wearing a cap under the headphones while I was riding and they blew off of my head. I stopped and panicked as cars and motorbikes barely missed running over them, until one did. To my chagrin, a speeding motorcycle ran them over. I was devastated. Electronics are pricey out there and replacing them wouldn’t be cheap. I ran into the road when I saw a break in traffic and picked up the pieces. I was expecting to be taking them for a short trip to the trash until I realized it was just the ear cups that had popped off. They snapped right back on with ease. I put them on AND THEY STILL WORKED PERFECTLY. I still can’t believe it. I am sold on JBL from here on out.

Headphones give great volume, sound quality is good, and look good. But all that said the auto pause feature is an absolute reason to pass on these. It pauses all the time and there is not an easy way to turn that feature off. So frustrating I get to the point I just want to rip them apart and give me a reason to buy a new pair of non JBL headphones. Absolutely foraging for the price of them.

I've had mine replaced in warranty for broken volume buttons and the replacements have failied in the exact same way just outside of warranty. The button goes "mushy" and doesnt click at first and then they eventually they start phantom pressing and skipping songs, making them practically unusable. The software is also terrible with no way to turn off the assistant mode without installing the software. It should be off by default. Good sound quality, comfortable. I have

Good headphones, noise cancelling not great

They’re good, noise cancelling isn’t very strong… I wanted them for my autistic daughter so I could cancel the noise without playing music like I do for my in ears but it barely does anything. The good thing is they’ll fit her til she’s a pre teen and she’s only 3 so it’s still worth the investment as long as they last that long! I’m glad they come with an aux cable too so my daughter can connect them without needing to understand Bluetooth. The folding nature is a nice added touch but they don’t really fold into much smaller a shape

Quality Headphones

Good sound, a little too bassy for my taste occasionally but that can be fixed in the app. the only issue I have with the ANC/Awareness modes is when outside you get amplified wind noise. otherwise both features are good for the price point. Clamping force is quite loose, and the ear cups don't rotate as freely as I would like which can lead to hotspots on the ears. The app is great, headphone features are good. the headphones look nice and are not too bulky. Materials are good, metal headband and solid plastics. Controls are easy to find when wearing and google assistant integration works well. Pairing with the phone is very easy, just pops up when you first put the headphones in pairing mode.

I bought two of these headsets for my 11 year old daughter and 9 year old son. They both love them, very comfortable and great sound. They do connect seamlessly via bluetooth to their iPads. The main issue I had is there is no microphone capability when using the cable to connect to a Nintendo Switch (Audio only). We had to buy an aftermarket inline microphone cable, which adds to the cost of the setup.

Non existent noise cancelling

We already have a pair of JBL Junior 310 for our daughter and wanted to upgrade to headphones with noise cancelling and purchased the JR460 NCs. The noise cancelling function does nothing. Plus, the headphones are much bigger (fit an adult easily) and heavier. Save yourself some money and get a cheaper model like the smaller, more lightweight 310s (or another brand) as this product has been a waste of money. JBL should stop marketing these as having a noise cancelling function.

I bought these about two weeks ago and honestly, I love these. I originally had the JBL Tune 510BT’s until I lost those, I bought these and everything about them is great. The noise cancellation is good, it isn’t the best, but is perfect for the price you pay for these headphones. I love all the buttons and features, such as the ambient aware mode that I personally think is very important as I walk to and from school and the talk through mode is also something I also find useful. These also have touch sensitivity on the left ear cup which if you put your hand on it for about two seconds, it allows you to talk to your voice assistant. I also will say these are comfortable headphones, I do want to note that they may be a little tight, primarily if you wear glasses, but otherwise they are quite comfy with the fabric on the band and the padding for the ear pads. Otherwise great audio and spectacular battery!

useless and annoying new features

Who’s Idea was the pausing audio every time the wind hits the headphones because they need to be fired 😭😭😭!? It is so so so so so beyond annoying, god , words can not express…. adaptive noise cancelling is also not great, the last thing I need when there is too much noise around me, is for my headphones to play more noise on top of it… I’ve been waiting for these things to break for the past four months but sadly the only good thing about them is how long they last. They hurt the ears as well, I’m autistic and hated the feeling and all the new features. I really apologise for my harsh language, I am just so fed up- I’ve never been so frustrated, let alone with a pair of headphones 🙏🙏 If you are like me; don’t buy these, especially not for so much money.
1 reply from Customer Support team - 9 months ago
We appreciate your feedback and apologize for the discomfort you're experiencing with the ear cushions of our JBL Live 460NC. We recommend adjusting the headband to see if you can achieve a more comfortable fit without the ear cushions pressing too tightly. The issue with the music stopping when the wind hits the headphones is likely due to the "Auto Play and Pause" feature, which automatically pauses the music when the headphones are removed or adjusted. You can disable the "Auto Play and Pause" feature using the JBL Headphones app. This should prevent the music from stopping when you adjust the headphones.
