Q: How do you make this?
A: You add water and ice, then blend.
submitted byMissyJ - 7 months agoA: Just add about 14oz water (colder the better) and shake or use a blender. I personally add crushed ice in mine. I am sure you can use any kind of milk as well.
submitted byG - 7 months agoA: Mix with water, or if you like more of a smoothie texture, blend it with crushed ice. Can add powdered peanut butter, banana, berries, fruit, almond milk, anything you want!
submitted byShorty - 7 months agoA: You can also add blueberries and a banana or even peanut butter. We do this along with the ice and blend it all. Delicious!
submitted byRache - 5 months agoA: 1. Add 12-14 oz of ice cold water (you can also add ice for a thicker texture) 2. Add 2 scoops of powder 3. Blend of shake until smooth and creamy!

Q: Why does the product all of a sudden bear the California proposition warning on it as a known cancer causing agent? Is there a specific ingredient that prompted it? Just wondering, been a kachava enthusiast for a while now and recommended it .
A: California's Prop 65 law is incredibly strict, and it requires that warning labels be placed on any product containing lead and other potentially dangerous compounds -- even if these compounds are present at extremely low levels that are not shown to cause harm. To put things in perspective, California sets their Prop 65 safety standards for these compounds 1,000 times lower than the FDA, WHO, and the other 49 states. Ka'Chava meets ALL national safety standards, but it's slightly above California's ultra strict standard for lead. Prop 65 is also a bit arbitrary. We consume trace amounts of lead and other controversial compounds from a variety of sources on a daily basis without cause for concern -- in fact, eating a salad or an apple would likely expose you to more lead than a serving of Ka'Chava (but still not enough to cause harm). But, because fresh produce isn't required to be labeled under Prop 65, you don't hear about it. At Ka’Chava, we are committed to reconnecting personal nutrition with nature by giving our customers access to all the best superfoods and nutrients every day in one easy-to-enjoy shake. The health and well-being of our customers are central to everything we do, and we will always ensure that our products are perfectly safe and produced with the highest level of integrity.

Q: How is this gluten free? Both wheat and barley are listed in the ingredients and both of those contain gluten.
A: We’re extra cautious about food allergies, especially gluten intolerance. So while it might be confusing to see barley grass in our ingredient list, we assure you there’s no gluten involved. Here’s the nitty gritty. Barley starts off as a grass. As the plant matures, it develops barley grain, which contains gluten. But when barley grass is harvested as a young plant—before the grain appears—it’s gluten-free. This young version of barley is what’s included in our blends, which means it’s gluten-free. The Food and Drug Administration allows barley grass as an ingredient in gluten-free products as long as the final product contains <20 parts per million of gluten, including any gluten due to cross-contact with gluten-containing grains. Ka'Chava meets these requirements and therefore is certified gluten-free.
