Q: How durable are the slats? And what are they made out of? My fiancé is concerned they are just flimsy mdf.

A: The slats are LVL slats. Laminated veneer lumber (LVL) which is an engineered wood product that uses multiple layers of thin wood assembled with adhesives to give it more strength and buoyancy. The weight limit for this bed is 500lbs, so the slats are pretty strong and there are quite a few running across (depending on the size). There is also two additional supports in the center of the bed.

The slats werent quite the right length to span the bed so we had to do some very off angle screws and get some additional hardware. The bed was ok for about a year or two but then the slats cracked and finally the middle posts broke, the hardware ripped out of them and couldnt be screwed back in.

The bed looked great and felt great. When we went to put it together, two holes were drilled in the wrong spot, and one was stripped, so the screw could never catch. We gathered up the eight billion pieces and returned it the next day.

The bed came with a split in the footboard and needed to be replaced. The second seemed to have no issues. The assembly instructions were not clear and you have to put screws in places where there aren’t any guide holes. It seems to be fairly sturdy, but we’ll see how it weathers over time.

The items looks good, but is cheaply constructed. I've had the bed for about 8 months and the frame support broke off during the middle of the night. I'm only one person sleeping on it and way 165 pounds. Be careful before purchasing. It was "outside of the warranty timeframe", so Target would not stand behind the product.

Avoid this like the plague. This bed is so flimsy, I wouldn't trust it to hold up a small child. The bed came with scratches and dents and was poorly packaged. Assembly was jus okay, not the worst, not the best. But the final product is just not worth the money, even if I only paid $50. We returned it immediately.

Very pleased with our purchase. The bed is well built and sturdy, and the headboard is a nice dark charcoal color like the pictures. The wood is solid, but not heavy, and has a nice finish that looks nice with our other, darker, wood furniture. The slats screw into the frame so the mattress sits solidly with no slipping or falling like some other slatted frames. Our Casper king size mattress fits the frame well. The bed is a little squeaky at first as the wood settles in, but the noise went away after a few days. Assembly was a bit time consuming, but not all that difficult.

Unfortunately, there was a 1" gash in the footboard upon arrival. We were in a rush to get the bed frame put together for out of town guests staying with us over the holidays, so we did not have the option to return. We found the bed frame fairly difficult to put together. We have a lot of experience putting together furniture, and this was one of the more difficult pieces. The pre-drilled holes were not all the way clear and had to be drilled to allow the screws to be properly put into place. Overall, the bed is aesthetically pleasing, fairly sturdy and a reasonable price. I just wish that it would have came without flaws.

This is a decent bed. The instructions were not very clear for assembly. The pegs to hold up the slats don't stay in place, therefore the bed doesn't feel sturdy at all. Also- if you have a thicker mattress, then it covers most of the headboard. Euro shams or even king shams cover the entire headboard so you can't even see if you prop pillows up to display them. Decent bed for the price- but certainly not the best

The bed has been slept in for four nights and so far so good. It is sturdy, solid and looks great. I think it looks higher end than the price suggests. It was very easy to put together with two people. I highly recommend. FYI our first bed did come damaged but Target customer service did a decent job and we were able to get a replacement without too much of a hassle.

I purhased this bed in the king size. Looks great and is very sturdy. Love the clean sleek lines. I gave it 4 stars rather than 5 only because it was a bit difficult to put together. Normally I have no problem with product assembly, but directions weren’t great and you need a drill in order to put it together correctly, which not everyone has/knows how to use. Once it was finally assembled (2 hrs later), I added my new Zinus mattress and lovely new bedding (also from Target), and couldn’t be more pleased! (Tip: if you are looking for a new, comfy mattress at an affordable price, I HIGHLY recommend Zinus. I purchased the king size cooling gel memory foam mattress for $500.. it feels like I’m at a 5 star resort!)
