Q: what size is right for my dog?

submitted by jen - 6 years ago
  • A: I have a 10lb miniature schnauzer and the small is perfect for her.

submitted byZimmerr - 6 years ago
  • A: I have a 23lb doxie mix and a medium would be better for her (I originally bought a small)

Q: I have a 40 lb border collie/terrier mixed breed. Should I get medium or large?

submitted by Fashionlover - 2 months ago
  • A: KONG advises consumers to size up their KONG toys for safety so that their dog cannot fit the toy in their mouths towards their rear molars to utilize their jaw to engage in "Scissor biting" using the pressure from their jaw hinge to break down toys just as their mouths were designed to break down material like bones in the wild! When in doubt size up or move to the black extreme rubber for extra safety and durability! KONG Sizes: Small up to 20lbs, Medium up to 35lbs, Large up to 65lbs and Extra Large up to 90lbs and extra extra large for those big pups starting at 85lbs! The KONG User Guide found inside the KONG Rubber packaging recommends the size large for Border Collies :) The KONG User Guide is also available on our website and provides more detailed information with sizing recommendations based on average breed chewing capacities, common weight and mouth circumferences to help avoid destructive chewing and provide the safest and most sustainable toy option available. Again, when in doubt size up and go Extreme!

Q: what size for a full grown labrador

submitted by terry - 2 years ago
  • A: Hello! It depends on your dogs size/weight and chewing behavior. These are our recommendations: Large KONG: 30-65 lbs. XL KONG: 60-90 lbs. XXL: 85+ Always size up when in doubt - and if your dog really likes to chew we recommend the KONG Extreme (Black). KONG,

Q: my mini Aussie is 28lbs, what size should I get?

submitted by Cathy - 2 years ago
  • A: Hello! If that is your dogs full grown size, then a Medium KONG should be fine, as that is created for dogs between 15-35 lbs. However, you know your pet’s chewing behavior best for power chewers increase one or two sizes or try the KONG Extreme. Thank you,

Q: This seems like it might be messy when used with peanut butter. Any thoughts? Thanks!

submitted by KamHolmes - 3 years ago
  • A: Hi! We would recommend your pup be outside or on a non-carpeted area when using any stuffing. You can also freeze goodies inside to make it more difficult for your pup to un-stuff, once she/he is confident with the process. Please see our website for more information. https://www.kongcompany.com/ Thanks!

Q: I have a regular sized chihuahua, what size is right for him?

submitted by Sarah - 3 years ago
  • A: Every dog has their own chewing habits which you know best. Based on the average size of chihuahuas KONG's size guide recommends a Small-sized Classic KONG, for Power Chewers you may need to size up one or two sizes and/or use the KONG Extreme line.

Q: I have a Standard Schnauzer (60 #) and a Redbone Coonhound (90#); what sizes would be good for them?

submitted by Denise - 4 years ago
  • A: Based on the KONG Sizing Guide by Breed, we would recommend the XL Classic KONG for your two dogs. Please keep in mind that the KONG should be larger than the dog's mouth and if they are strong chewers, we recommend either sizing up or switching over to our Extreme Rubber!

My lab absolutely loves getting her treats in the kong and having to work to get them out. She loves it so much we sometimes find it in odd places and have lost one or two of them over time. We got this one for a backup!!

My cat absolutely loves the cat version of the Kong toy but we had issue of it breaking too fast we were worried of it becoming a choking hazard we got him the small Kong version for dogs he loves it highly recommended we supervised the playtime just in case we found out its not too strong for his teeth & we can easily find it since it’s bigger than the cat version

Honestly nothing compares to Kong brand toys! 👏 I’ve gotten other brands versions of this toy before and my dog couldn’t care less to get the treat out and has left it within minutes. With Kong he actually works for the treat, it’s enriching for him! Plus they are incredibly durable - the only reason we’ve ever had to get rid of one, was when he out grew his puppy one (for reference my dog is a black lab/pitbull mix who loves to chew)

Great for super chewers! Fill with peanut butter, freeze, and use as crate toy. Small Maltese mix loves it. No damages. Recommend for chew-loving, easily bored dogs. Perfect for small breeds like bichons, schnauzers, and Yorkies. Would buy again.

I bought the medium classic red for our 5 month russell terrier mix who is teething and in his biting phase. Wasn't sure this would hold up well with his chewing habits, but it's held up so far. The toy is tough, but has a slight squish when squeezed, which he appreciates. He doesn't seem to like very hard toys. I only use this for snacks, not catch and I take it away after 15 or 20 min when he's done getting the food in order to prolong the durability

This chew toy has been a saving grace for my 9 week old lab puppy. We use this in place of biting hands and she loves chewing on it. We got her a size M and it’s perfect for her. We also use it for teaching fetch, and she loves how it bounces around. :)
