Functions as it should. Clicked in easy to both end seats, couldn’t get it to fit in the middle seat. Has enough length for my dog to be comfortable and safe.

I had purchased this seat belt for my dog, Daisy, Summer of 2024 from a pet store in Jackson Hole, WY. February of 2025, I partially rolled my car due to icy roads in WA. Daisy had her harness and seat belt on in the backseat. She was completely okay. Daisy is a border collie, Australian shepherd mix and she weighs 45 pounds, for reference. I cannot recommend this product enough! Accidents on the road can happen fast, wear your seat belt and get your pet a seat belt too.

Thank you so much for sharing your experience with us, Gracie. We cannot image how scary that must have been for you and Daisy. We are so happy to hear you are both okay and our tether played a part in keeping Daisy safe! We greatly appreciate your feedback.

Thank you so much for sharing your experience with us, Gracie. We're so sorry that you and Daisy had this experience, but it's wonderful to know you're both safe. We did want to mention that even if Daisy was wearing a harness of a different brand at the time of this accident, we do have a harness replacement program for accidents like this and we would love to get Daisy set up with a new car harness. You can find out how to apply with our Safe Again program here- https://www.kurgo.com/safe-again-program
Works exactly how it should!

The tether works great along w the harness I purchased as well to go w it. My Airedale puppy has enough room to move and look around but is safely secured in the backseat!

So an actual seatbelt for a car is, you know, so you don’t fly out the car in the event of sudden breaks or crashes. So when I saw this— in person— and read the actual packaging, I was lead to believe that this was a safety item for the dog. And turns out, now that I came across it again, that it is not a safety item for the dog. I can train my dog to not bother me in the car, but I cannot train them to survive a car accident, and that is what I was lead to believe this product was as on no part of the packaging did it say it was not crash tested. And on that note, that makes this pretty useless. I want my dog to not die. That’s why I got this, and this company is using that sentiment to be misleading in their advertising. It does keep the dog where I put them, but they would do that anyway, and I got this so they would be safe. But apparently they’re not safe when using this.

We're so sorry for any misunderstanding about this tether! As stated in all product information about this tether, it is intended to prevent distracted driving. It does, however, also provide increased safety for your dog by keeping them stationary. Though this is by nature a safer option than having your dog untethered, if you are wanting a crash tested option we absolutely have those available. These can be seen here- https://www.kurgo.com/harnesses/impact-dog-car-harness https://www.kurgo.com/harnesses/enhanced-strength-dog-car-harness

Purchased this to bring my sons dogs safely to my place an hour away. Chewed thru belt first day and ruined seatbelt hookup too. Might be great for smaller dogs.

We're sorry to see your pup damaged their tether! Though this tether is certainly suitable for both large and small dogs, any size dog can chew through a tether very quickly. We do recommend only using a tether with your dog once you are sure they can ride comfortably in the seat without chewing, or in situations where they can be directly supervised by a passenger and any chewing attempts immediately redirected. We're so sorry for any misunderstanding. Please know that we do have a discounted replacement option for chewed items; as dog owners ourselves we can certainly understand that these things happen! So that we can help with this, please reach out to our Customer Care team. They can be contacted here- https://www.kurgo.com/contact-us Our phone hours are Monday through Friday 8 A.M.- 7 P.M. EST, and our chat hours are Monday through Saturday 9 A.M. – 9 P.M. EST.

To short to work well with my 66 lbs Lurcher. Additionally, 5 minutes into our first drive, the dog stepped on the seat belt release mechanism, resulting in the tether being released.

I was hit on the driver side of my car by a box truck who was going 50 mph and he ran the red light. My dog was in the back seat in his Kurgo harness and tether. If it wasn’t for him in his tether he would have been thrown from the car. Thank You Kurgo for making my dog safe in the car.

Dangerous in Honda Pilot 2nd row seatbelt buckles. My then 6 month old argentine mastiff X APBT puppy fell out of my (a little over half-way up) window somehow. He was slightly scuffed but largely unharmed, thankfully, as I was slowing down for an upcoming turn. I wish I would have known about the buckle covers beforehand. I guess that doesn't matter now because it's currently stuck in the buckle.

My 24 year old son purchased one of these safety tethers to make travelling with his 6 month old Lab/Staffordshire mix a bit less chaotic. Ollie is an energetic strong puppy, and yesterday while driving to our nearby nature center for a romp, the car became uncharacteristically quiet. Cut to the chase - the tether had come undone from the seat belt buckle and Ollie had leapt out the car window at 45 mph. The dog had several abrasions, but no major broken bones - if one counts the tail as a 'minor' bone. The potential for far worse outcomes was avoided, but this product clearly is ineffective for its primary purpose, which is to keep the dog in the car and safe. The product needs to be re-engineered to actually do what it is supposed to do. Ollie could have been killed.

I’ve only used the buckle three times and today my 70lb German Shepherd decided to jump out of the car before I released him. The buckled popped out of the seat and is bent. Glad I didn’t have to experience this failure during a crash. Unfortunate because there are so many good reviews for this product, but maybe for smaller dogs.

We're sorry to hear your dog has been able to unfasten his buckle! For very clever pups who learn how to do this, we would recommend using a buckle barrier to block this area and prevent him from releasing his tether. These can be seen here- https://www.kurgo.com/dog-travel/dog-travel-gadgets/buckle-barrier/ These barriers will fit most seat belt buckles. If you have any questions, please get in touch with us! Our number is 1-877-847-3868, and our hours are Monday through Friday 8 A.M.- 8 P.M. EST and Saturdays 9 A.M.- 5 P.M. EST.

Love this - I feel safer and my dog isn't pacing back and forth in the backseat distracting me. My *only* complaint is she sometimes steps on it and unbuckles herself but overall...really worth the investment and highly recommend!
