Description

La Roche-Posay Effaclar Adapalene Gel 0.1% is a prescription-strength retinoid acne treatment. This oil-free, fragrance-free acne treatment contains adapalene gel, a dermatologist recommended retinoid. Retinoids are recommended by dermatologists to help clear and prevent blackheads, whiteheads, clogged pores, and acne blemishes. This non-greasy, gel-like texture is quickly absorbed into skin. Dermatologist developed and tested. Suitable for children 12 years and up. If pregnant or breast-feeding, ask a doctor before use.
How to Apply: Use once daily. Clean the skin gently and pat dry before applying product. Cover the entire affected area with a thin layer. For example, if your acne is on the face, apply the product to the entire face. Do not use more than one time a day. Applying more than directed will not provide faster or better results, but may worsen skin irritation. During the early weeks of use, your acne may appear to worsen before it improves (this is normal); continue use as directed, unless you get irritation that becomes severe. Irritation is more likely to occur in the first few weeks of use or if using more than one topical acne medication at a time but irritation usually lessens with continued use of this product. Applying more than directed will not provide faster or better results. It may take up to 3 months of once daily use to see results. For further instructions, refer to the Drug Facts on the packaging

  • A: Hello MC! When combining Effaclar Adapalene with a vitamin C serum, start slowly. Introduce the adapalene a few times a week at night. Once your skin adjusts (after a couple of weeks), add the vitamin C serum on alternate days, ideally in the mornings. Watch for any irritation and adjust usage as needed. Daily sunscreen use is crucial. A dermatologist can provide personalized guidance.

  • A: Hello Cynthia! Thank you for your inquiry on La Roche Posay Unscented Effaclar Adapalene Topical Retinoid Oil Free Acne Treatment. We understand your concerns and we appreciate you taking the time to reach out. Parabens are a group of commonly used ingredients that act as a preservative in cosmetics and personal care products. They are highly effective in preventing the growth of fungi, bacteria, and yeast that could contaminate and degrade products. As part of our commitment to deliver high-quality, effective products, certain parabens are used in some of our formulations to ensure the safety of our consumers. Extensive research spanning decades has confirmed the parabens in our portfolio are safe at the concentrations we use. The U.S. Food & Drug Administration (FDA), which regulates the personal care industry, upholds these findings. While we take great care in evaluating each ingredient we use and are confident in our products’ safety, we know there is public conversation encouraging consumers to avoid certain ingredients, as is the case with some parabens. Based on growing demand for products that do not include parabens, we substituted them for other preservatives in some of our products. Consumers can look on our products’ labels to see what ingredients are included. Additionally, as part of our innovation strategy we are developing packaging systems and new product formulations that are less vulnerable to microbiological contamination, which will limit the use of preservatives in general. We will continue to take a rigorous approach to product quality and safety, while monitoring consumer insights and preferences.

Where has this been all my life?!

I have been dealing with acne in various forms for last 34+ years of my life. At 47, and a working professional still dealing with very obstinant acne in the T-zone region, I FINALLY reached a breaking point of wanting to try something beyond the standard benzoyl peroxide and salicylic acid products. I found Effaclar adapalene gel and what a difference it has made in just 2 months. The region above my eyebrows and temples always had acne blemishes and now I can barely find a plugged pore! Stunned. My wife asked me recently why I was so invested into resolving my acne as she simply didn't even notice it. But I did, and it has frustrated me for years. Now I feel more confident, heck even photogenic. If you are dealing with acne, so yourself a favor and try the Effaclar adapalene gel! Note: Retinol purge is real. In my case it was minor, but noticeable. But once I broke though to the other side, I couldn't be happier. 1 tube has lasted be 2+ months (treating my whole face/neck region). Additionally, retinol burn or damage to the skin barrier is also real. Take care to treat and repair your face with other products as necessary.

Terrible replacement for the dual action acne treatment. Can’t use this because I’m already using prescription retinoid cream. This is useless to me. Also I have a sibling who can’t use adapalene. Bad choice. Wish you hadn’t gone the way other brands are.

    Possible counterfeit item

Lilly - 2 months ago, Verified purchaser
This is my second time getting this product. The packaging is different and does not match the previous product. Not sure if there was a package change or I got a counterfeit product. I have looked all over the internet including the La Roche Posay website to see if the product packaging has changed and it doesn’t look like it has. I think this may have been a counterfeit product sold by Target.

This was prescribed for my mom(I am her caregiver), who had two pimples around her eye. I really can't rate the product because it was only used a couple of times. The pimples went away on their own. I am disappointed that my mother's dermatologist promoted this product as it seems that she could have prescribed a less expensive over the counter product. Now we have a full tube that we have no use for. Can it be used to treat crow's feet around the eyes?

La Roche-Posay is one of my all time favorite skincare brands. I use majority of their line so I was very excited to try the Effaclar Adapalene Gel Topical. The tube is huge and you only need a pea sized amount. This is the gentlest retinoid I’ve found yet. It doesn’t cause me any peeling or flaking on my face and doesn’t make my acne worse. It makes my overall skin texture smoother and glowy. It absorbs really well and I layer a thick moisturizer on top of it. I love this product and will be using every night now!

I recently tried this acne, and it’s been a game changer. I’ve noticed a significant improvement in my skin’s texture and clarity after using it for a few weeks. My breakouts have reduced, and my skin feels smoother overall. It can be a bit drying at first, so I recommend starting slow and using a good moisturizer. But once your skin gets used to it, the results are totally worth it! It’s definitely a great addition to my skincare routine.

While amazing if used properly, I totally destroyed my skin barrier because I didn’t start off using the product slowly. I enjoyed the results but after a week everything from gentle moisturizer to warm water would burn my face. I think if you start using the product every other day and slowly increase over time then your skin should adjust. If you find your skin burning, the only thing soothing it is aquaphor and the triple moisturizing cream from La roche. Just be cautious and listen to your skin before you overdo it with a retinol.
