Q: Do I need a drill to assemble it?

A: No you need hammer and Phillips screwdriver though. And attach plastic drawer sides to main drawer board BEFORE the opposite board or you’ll also need a short screwdriver to attach.

submitted byShweta - 2 years agoTarget staff supportA: Instructions say to not mount to the wall. From the construction I don’t think you should either unless you add support from the bottom. There are screws/holes to attach to wall at the top but that’s for stability rather than mounting

submitted byAllen - 2 years agoTarget staff supportA: I had wanted to purchase this product as a freestanding unit (not in front of a wall), but based on some reviews, even though you don’t need to mount it to a wall, this shoe rack is open in the back. So for aesthetics, you would need to place it in front of a wall unless you don’t mind seeing what’s inside from the back.

This is nice looking and space-saving but it doesn't hold up long term. At just under a year of use, this has fallen apart. The screws have stripped from the MDF and, therefore, I can't really fix it. Became wobbly and needed lots of readjusting. I used it for children's shoes, never over-filled. It's a low-quality product, which is disappointing given the price.

Big enough to hold size 12 men's shoes and easy enough to put together until you get to the shelves. The shelves were hard to get into the brackets and the holes didn't line up with them, I had to screw each screw in a little bit at a time versus one at a time which would have been way easier given that you have to access some with a short screwdriver in a tight space. Very pleased with the end result however!

Just put together tonight, took about 2 hours. It looks nice, got on sale for 48. Holds 10 pairs of shoes, size 9 women and 10 men. Only two pairs fit across-the third pair is split between the top and bottom divider. Requires a drill for the anchors, 3/8 bit. If you have quarter round molding it won’t be flush to the wall…cleaning dust/dirt will be a challenge since it is now mounted to the wall. Hope it lasts awhile. I would recommend if you have a shoe storage problem that you need taken care of quick and not concerned about long term.

Like that it looks simple and spacious. Dislike how flimsy and cheap it is. Unfortunately I can't upload video to show you how wobbly and cheap it feels. I wanted the IKEA one but was near a Target at the time so I just went for it. Regrets were made. To keep it structurally sound you must screw this into your wall to use as a back and that's impossible for where I wanted to put it so it's like a wobbly card house barely staying together.

Before you assemble it Read this: Buy a tube of silicone! You will need to reinforce this thing because all the screws are extremely short and not wide enough that if you screw it too hard it goes past the hole in the bracket. Also most importantly skip step 8 and go to step 9 then go back to 8, probably doesn’t make sense to you now but I wish someone would have told me because there’s a panel on step 8 that you can wait till after step 9 to put on or else the panel will completely block your hand and screwdriver from being able to assemble and you’ll have to take it apart like I did. It too longer to assemble because I had to reinforce the whole thing with silicone and wait a day for it to dry. This thing is worth about $15. Whoever made the instructions needs to be fired! And the company needs to add longer screws with wider tops because the screws are too short they fall out and strip and too skinny on top it goes through the plastic bracket hole, I don’t know if ikea sells one but I’d bet there’s is better, it’s for my daughter and she doesn’t have a lot of shoes but I am worried this won’t last long even with the silicone reinforcement. I feel cheated and robbed

Honestly, super easy to assemble and does the job I needed. I put two of these together yesterday and have them in my bedroom for some unconventional uses. I needed more storage for my pants and to keep them out of sight. I rolled my pants and stuffed them into the drawers, now the mountain of leggings is contained and I'm happy with the outcome. As the title says, they are lacking in trivial ways. For instance, there is no back or floor to these cabinets, so I fear dust will be an issue overall. Perhaps I can find a way to enclose them without having to try that hard. The stability would be better if they put a back in the box, but then they wouldn't have been so cheap! I got mine with decent discounts and they were about $45 each. So, overall I'm pretty darn happy with my choices. Dress them up however you want or leave them boring white.
