Q: why does it make a distinctive loud humming noise
A: Hi, Thank you for reaching out to Lasko Products. My apologies for all the trouble because of this matter. No worries, I'll be more than happy to assist you. First, please power off and unplug the unit for approximately 15-minutes. Please also try plugging into a different plug in a different room after allowing the item to sit unplugged for the recommended 15-minutes. Here is a video that explains this a bit more in-depth: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hom3hOU-vHk While the unit is unplugged, using a vacuum with the brush attachment, please vacuum the intake and exhaust vents, from the outside of the unit. If you have a can of compressed air, that can be used as well in combination with the vacuum. Remember to never open the unit as this poses a safety concern and can void your warranty.
