The children loved them! Purchased for "Families" Theme. During circle time, each child could hold one up for "Who is in your family," etc., but I can't believe dogs aren't included; only cats. Color or shape sorting/matching (using plastic tongs/tweezers). Can use for patterning if I have older students. Including pets was brilliant, but limiting it to cats was a poor judgement call by the manufacturer. I seem to have about equal number of "cat vs. dog" students, some have both. Many wanted a kitty since they had one, but no dogs. : (

in my childminding setting i have varies age groups and every single child loved playing with these family pieces in a different way, some were actually role playing and making them talk to each other, some were sorting into groups of same colour families, others liked to have a vet setting with all the pet pieces. absolutely love this resource

Our pupils love these, from age 4 to 11. So many uses, are bright, good quality & appealing too. Decent lidded tub to carry them around & useful that smaller packs are available to increase the amount. So good to have a change from cubes & multilink. I bought for a Snap maths intervention but use them for adding, subtraction, sorting, positional/direction language, ordinal numbers, storytelling & speech & language work with all the children. Some of the most easily distracted children were more interested in picking certain colours/characters but this was a minor issue solved by restricting their choice. Love them!

My 5 year old uses counters as school and he has been wanting his own to use at home. These are perfect for him because not only can he use them as counters for counting, patterns, and sorting, but he can also use them to play and explore. My son loves playing with them and using them to learn and create our family as well as other families. I love that they come in a bucket with a lid so they are easy to store. **Disclosure: I received this product free of charge in order to do an honest review. My thoughts are 100% my own.**

The All About Me Family Counters come in a set of 72 manipulatives to help kids Pre-K and older to learn about families. The Counters come in all shapes and sizes with the tallest being 2.5". You can help your child build your family and I love how they include cats (yeah!) as well as babies that can be held by parents. The different colors and patterns are also great with patterning and sorting games. Learning Resources also put together several activities young children can do with this set on their website. As always with Learning Resources, it is another great tool for hands on learning!

My daughter really enjoyed playing with these, she's been finding different things to do with them and I can hear her even playing with them as if they were having conversations with each other. I liked the quality of these, the plastic is smooth and the colors are really bright. Overall... we really like these, I'm sure she'll continue to have a blast playing with them! She's already asked if they can go swimming in the bathtub!

After we built our family we used the counters to form different patterns. My son loved trying to figure out what item should go next, or which one was missing in the middle of a pattern. He even had to build some for me to figure out ;-) We have used these counters several times since the first day of using them. They really are a lot of fun and a great learning tool!

I was given this set to review and we love it! I have 3 kids, ages 3, 6, and 10. My 3 and 10 year old loved these and have played with them a lot! I love that they can be used for so many early math skills such as patterning, counting, sorting, and more. The different sizes are wonderful and I love the different colors!

The family counters were a big hit at our house with all of my kids. They were used for all kinds of activities: sorting, counting, imaginative play, and learning about family. I like how these counters are so easily integrated into play that my youngest two children didn't realize they were learning. While we don't have any pets, the only thing I may have added to the set would have been a dog, too. *I was given this product in exchange for my honest opinion.

The All About Me Family Counters by Learning Resources are an excellent manipulative set to own! My daughter and son ages four and half and two years old have been enjoying using these counters during school and play time quite a bit. I for one think that these counters are great to use for teaching about colors, sequencing patterns, counting, and much more! This set of manipulative's is 72 pieces and comes in 6 different shapes and colors. The colors are orange, blue, green, purple, yellow, and red. The shapes include a cat, infant, girl child, boy child, a man, and a woman. I like that with the shapes, children can put together a set of their very own family! I found these counters very durable and if needed easy to wash after use. One way I've used The All About Me Counters with my children is practicing pattern sequencing. I downloaded the additional exclusive content to use with the counters on the Learning Resource Website, laminated those pages for use after use! Teaching children recognize patterns and sequences is key for future understanding of math concepts and functions. I think starting children out with a set like this one is a must. And it totally helps that these counters are so cute, colorful, and eye catching too! I wouldn't hesitate to recommend The All About Me Counters to anyone. There's not one thing I dislike. The kids love them, there's additional online content to use with the counters, they are stored in their own bucket, easy to clean, and can be used in so many different ways whether to educate, to have fun, or both!
