Description
This analog coding game teaches digital skills! Building on the success of Learning Resources’ Code & Go Robot Mouse, this fun board game pairs hands-on play with strategies based on fundamental coding concepts. Two to four players take on the roles of rival mice in the hunt for blocks of delicious cheese scattered around the game board. On each turn, players draw coding cards that they string together into sequences of commands to “compute” their way toward those tempting cheesy wedges. To get there, they’ll have to navigate around maze walls that block their paths, and towards warp tunnels that speed up their journeys. The player who collects the most cheese wedges at the end of the game wins, but all players come away with new skills and understanding—in addition to the coding component, each game is built around STEM skills including problem solving and critical thinking. Ages 5+.

Excellent for beginners in coding

I bought this game for my 5 year old kid. Box is durable and handy for storage. Cardboard game is colorful, mice and cheese are made of good plastic, other parts made of sturdy paper. Only problem is a foam dice with numbers starting to fade very quickly. Game itself is exciting. You code mice, block your opponents, teleport yourself... Excellent for beginners in coding.
This was a very fun game but a little difficult for my 5&6yo

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I received this Code and Go Mouse Mania board game by Learning Resources complementary from Viewpoints Sampling program to try with my own children and because I am a childcare provider. My children that are of age to be interested in these types of games are two kindergarten boys ages 5&6. My daycare children were still a bit too young to play this. So off I went to play the game with my two youngest sons. At first they were very thrilled with the idea of the game(they love board games) and loved the mice and cheese. We had never seen this game so the newness made it more exciting also. We took everything out and they LOVED the idea of the "warp zones" which thanks to video games, they viewed as teleporters! Once we actually started playing and getting into the game it got a little bit harder. Trying to explain the concept of "coding" to them through the instructions was a bit difficult-which was surprising because they are both very smart and ahead, and video game whizzes. But regardless it made playing the game a bit difficult and they didn't fully grasp the concept. They did still have fun blocking with the walls and chasing the cheese. All in all I would say this is a great concept for a game and could potentially be excellent for a classroom environment for first or second graders, but I do not feel 5yrs or even 6yrs is age appropriate due to the skill level. Im sure we will still pull it out several more times to play with the pieces and try but overall this will be a game we have to hold off on a bit till they can both grasp coding concept a bit more.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I like the overall concept of this game. The problem is that my kids have been exposed to computers and tablets since a young age and have done coding on them, so this game was not as interesting to them if they had not had this prior experience. I think that younger kids would like this game, but it also may be too difficult for them to understand at times.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] My kids liked the game once they finally figured it out. They design leaves something to be desired and the instructions were a little difficult to understand. The product game board was cheaply made and started to tear when playing.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] My 5yr old and 9yr old love learning together while they play this game. I told them they are coding and it took a minute for my 9yr old to realize that they are! It is a fun, cute game but also educational at the same time. My 9yr old is very familiar with coding due to being in school full time, my newly 5yr old isn't as much and I feel like this gives him a head start on what he is about to learn.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Code & Go Mouse Mania Board Game is a fun and educational way to teach kids to think like a coder would. We had never heard of this game before being selected to try it through a program, and boy were we pleasantly surprised! My husband works in the Cyber Security industry, and codes as part of his day to day. He was tickled by how easy and kid friendly the game made coding for our children (5 and 8 years old). The kids picked it up quickly and it wasn't long before we were adding our own rules to make it even more challenging. (We're a highly competitive family, but we leave it all on the table once the game is put away! We gave each player a wall at the start of the game, so they could play it at any point during the game in an attempt to block another player. We generally don't roll that many walls, but the game already states if all the walls are on the board, and you roll a wall, you can move any wall on the board to another position, so it worked well for us!) I would definitely recommend this game, in an ever growing cyber based society, any step up you can give your kids is a worthwhile endeavor!

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] My kids really loved this game. Overall, it was fairly easy to play and they didn't have too much trouble figuring out the directions. I think it is one that can be played over and over since the outcome will change with each game. Even my younger than 5 year olds had fun trying to play the game. They love the little mice and pieces of cheese they need to collect.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] It is a great learning game that makes you really have to think about what your next move will be. My 5 year old loved it but struggled with the understanding of what moves to make and why she had to make them.

This game comes in a sturdy square box which is wonderful for me to store with other games. The front looks inviting for kids to play. This has well laid out instructions on how to play the game and it is easy to follow along. The only problem my kids (ages 4 & 6) had a hard time understanding that turning left or right doesn't mean you go forward too so it took some time to get adjusted to that but after all, this is a coding game! The game board has different colors on it and the mouse and cheese game pieces are made of a rubber like material so they will hold up.The maze walls and warp zones are cardboard but feel pretty durable on the other hand the die is made of a foam material and the numbers have started to fade about about 5 times playing this. Also, the coding cards and small squares and seem a bit flimsy/bendable. There is no way to store the cards so I put them is a plastic baggie. I wish it came with a plastic storage box for the cards. We really love playing this game, even me! It is impressive you can learn to code and have fun playing it as a game! I received this game for free as part of a review program and even though I would change a few thing, I would recommend this to my friends and other parents!
