We have been loving the Number Construction set. Although it is geared toward younger children like our preschooler (age 4), our older children (ages 6 and 8) have been having fun with it as well. It can be used for multiple activities like basic constructions of the numbers, using the bolts for touch points, problem solving, etc. or free play. Number Construction encourages children to use multiple skills as they are using fine-motor skills while they are working on their Math skills as well!

This is an awesome system that allows your child to follow cards (included with the kit) and create the numbers. In addition to putting together the number, they included "counters" on each number after its constructed to help with counting. It is a GREAT system that we love to sit and work on with my daughter. Inside each box you will find: ◦50 pieces (30 lines and curves and 20 bolts or as we call them "counters"), ◦5 double-sided Activity Cards with step-by-step directions, and ◦a Guide The activity cards are great and easy to follow. My 3 year old (almost 4) had no issue getting the cards out and following along. They did a great job creating this system with colors, shapes and more to help make the process fun and enjoyable for our little ones. After my daughter selects a car, we have her get the needed parts out of the box and set them out so we can visually follow along with the card to identify how to construct the number. The numbers are fairly easy to put together. The first few my daughter needed help, but quickly she got it down and became a wiz at her new toy. Little did she know that she was learning while playing. After she constructed a number we would have her trace it with her finger a few times to feel the shape of the numbers. Then we would have her try to "draw" it out on paper. This was a great way to work with her on her numbers and have some good quality time at the same time.
Great fun for Kindergarten students too!

My kindergarten students love these number builders! I love that they can see the lines and curves of each number AND that they are getting good fine motor practice -- all while having FUN! There are so many extensions you can use with these fun learning tools! They are great!

The Number Construction set by Learning Resources makes number know how a blast! My children age 5 and 3 have always learned brand new concepts quite well with a hands-on approach. Sets like this one are usually a must have in our home and I am sure a must for any classroom! My son age 3 and well into learning many preschool concepts has benefited quite a bit from the Number Construction set. There were no issues snapping the pieces together or detaching them once I separated them from each stack. I let my son have his own way with the pieces and he happily all on his own started building numbers. He also learned he could make more than just that! He was making swords, alphabetic letters, and more. I say a product like this is great for imaginative play and developing those fine motor skills as well as the intended purpose. This set comes with 50 number pieces that can be easily snapped together to make number 0-9! The bolts are a fabulous addition because you can count those and show what matching number each group represents. The colorful pieces store easily snapping into each other and makes for keeping things tidy in the classroom without any worry of lost parts. The number of pieces makes this set large enough to use with four children at one time and that's a great bonus in any classroom. The set also comes with 5 double sided activity cards which instruct children in which way they can create the numbers showing what pieces to chose and how the finished number should look. There is a guide that suggests eight activities in which you can do in your classroom or at home such as Number Sorting, Counting Construction, Early Addition, and so on. The possibilities are endless with the Number Construction Activity Set! It is great for brain stimulation, developing fine motor skills, problem solving, and number recognition. There's nothing we don't love about this new 2014 product from Learning Resources, in fact, we highly recommend it! It's durable, can be used in so many ways. It's sure to be loved by any child and by any teacher looking out for the best interest of their students.
