My preschooler loves reading, but he gets frustrated easily if he can’t immediately sound/figure out a word. He also happens to love dinosaurs, so I got this game on a whim to give him a little more exposure to some common words. It was a hit! We modify it slightly to give him a chance to actually read the words (I’m not a huge fan of only memorizing sight words without knowing how to really read them), but he has already remembered words from this game when he comes across them in a book.

My daughter got this as a gift to help with site word practice. This is way more fun than flash cards for a 5 year old. We play the game according to the direction but sometimes make up our own game too.

My 7 and 11 year old have really enjoys this. We even played it on the roof of my car while on a ferry. :) I call out a word and they race to suction it with their dinosaur. I give my son (the 7 year old) a slight advantage by calling out words I can tell he has his eye on. They get really competitive but love it. Then my daughter calls out words and I race against my son or vice versa. They are both better than I am even though the 7 year old is just starting to read. A great game.
