The lamp is not a wireless lamp, and the proprietary adapter (cord) that was included with the lamp should be plugged into a workable wall outlet in order for the built-in LEDs to illuminate. The lamp does have QI (pronounced Chee) charging station located on the front flat base of lamp that charges a wireless device, provide the wireless device has built-in wireless charging capability. In order to find out if a wireless device has built-in wireless charging capability, simply Google the manufacturer's name and series of the wireless device(s). A: Thanks for your inquiry. A phone MUST have built-in wireless charging capability, or the phone would never be able to charge on any wireless charging station. If not known if the phone has built-in wireless charging capability, may I suggest Googling the phone (manufacturer & series) in order to find out if the phone has built-in wireless charge capability. If the phone has been charging on the QI (pronounced Chee) charging station & now stopped, the overall troubleshooting tip for a LED lamp is to unplug the proprietary adapter (cord) from the wall outlet (NOT from back of lamp) and allow the lamp to sit unplugged/untouched for 30+ minutes in order to see if the internal computer chip will re-set itself. OR Google the manufacturer & series of the phone in order to see if the manufacturer has any troubleshooting tips if/when a phone with built-in wireless charging has stopped charging wirelessly, or for any/all updates to apps regarding phone (with built-in wireless charging), as it may be a phone issue rather than a lamp issue. Ottlite does NOT recommend plugging a proprietary LED adapter (cord) into power strips or extension cords unless they are either rated heavy gauge, or the Ottlite proprietary adapter is the only item being plugged into those apparatuses, as this could potentially compromise the proprietary adapter (cord).
