Q: My son received a Lego table. Would we be able to build the tracks on the Lego table or do the tracks need a flat surface? We are new to Lego's.
submitted by Jill - 6 months ago
A: Hi there! The straight tracks can be attached directly to an underlying LEGO® table or baseplate, but the curved tracks would need a few special bricks to fit securely. We'd be happy to walk you through the best building solution at LEGO.build/Service-BV. - John, LEGO® Customer Service

Q: Does this set come with a hub / battery box and what kind? It just mentions the light, not about moving. Thank you!
submitted by Legomom - 7 months ago
A: The Express Passenger Train comes with the battery hub and remote control, but you can also use the LEGO® Powered Up app to control the train! - Elizabeth, LEGO® Customer Service

Best Recent Passenger Train but improve electrics
5 out of 5 stars

This train set is the best passenger train in recent years, mainly because it uses bricks to build the train and avoids a single-piece front end. The bricks are more versatile for reuse in different models. So good that I bought 4 of this set. The set is ripe for adding another as the other end of the train, making 6 cars, but that is more difficult to operate because the second motor would be the other way round so it would need to run in reverse at the same time. Using the other port on the second hub, one could press both buttons on the handset together, having rotated the dial 180 degrees (great feature), but what we really want is the ability to run two motors from one port or to run two motors in opposite directions from one command with the handset, without using a phone. That was easier with the previous Power Functions system. Please make the electrics more versatile, perhaps add a 2-port lead with reverse option switch for one of the ports, so we can drive "simple" motors like that. The lead could look like a train motor as its ID (pins 3-6) and just reverse the motor connections on pins 1&2. Without that versatility, people turn to 3rd-party products and you lose market share. The same goes for needing a LiPo battery for the hub. Power Functions had the 8878 LiPo battery but Powered-Up is back to unsustainable cells. So a great train set but an electric system that needs improving.
Love it but needs a tweak

I live my set. I've been wanting to get it for years. Building it was great...but the little magnets are not strong enough to pull the carts. The front de-couples on 2. It also shows down alot on the bends. I also have to take a battery out for the lights to go off...not sure if that's how it should be or if fault somewhere. Overall....I still love it and looking forward to building a little town arrou d my track. When or if I can afford to.

Bought this set of Lego for a 10 years old boy, he loved it! From received, built, set-up, testing and completed...he enjoyed every moment. The train run pretty fast, he also thought about extending the track to let train goes faster. This is his first Powered Up set, super excited.

This set was perfect for my 3 year old. She loved helping me build it every step of the way. I was surprosed at how much detail there was and howsimple it was to put together. She loves playing with it especially because I work on the train. Well done lego on bringing this home.

What a great build from beginning to end, with the added bonus of battery power. It can go super fast around the track without derailing. The lights are super bright & can be dimed to suit your preference. My 13 year old son also enjoyed this.

This set was a bit of nostalgia for when I was younger I got the set 60052 which is the blue cargo train it had me playing with it for days. Fast forward a few years and boom another cool train. This set is a great addition to my city... if I had one that was not destroyed.
Single-ended train, hard to play with

I would love to say that this train is the best train yet, but in reality it’s really hard to use. The cars are really long, which creates extra capacity but also limits where the train can go, like platforms on the inner side of a curve. It is also single ended, meaning sending it in the other direction requires me to use 1 or more switch tracks or purchase of an extra 3 car set, which I don’t want to do. They also hate flex tracks and derail on them. Aside from that, it’s a really cool train, nice design and actually has doors for once. If you do get it, make sure to get a double ended locomotive for shunting.

I grew up watching plenty of videos on some of the Lego trains throughout the years, and I have always wanted one. My parents would not get me them due to the prices, but I eventually purchased this one with my own money now that I am older! For the first Lego train that I have purchased, I really enjoyed building and playing with it!

Train was working for a few times, but after a few uses, it stopped working properly. It would function for about 30 seconds and then it died. Replaced the batteries several times. It blinks blue and yellow lights with no mobility. We believe the hub is not functioning properly. What a waste of money and time. Son is very disappointed.

This passenger train set looks amazing when built. It's quite sturdy, it looks modern, and the engine/control works as it should. There's just a few cons: (1) the train's nose is a bit too long you'll need ample space for it - as it chugs its way around your mini city; (2) the station platform can't be placed very near the train track, ergo, that big gap between the platform and the train (not wheelchair- friendly); (3) the first and second passenger cars are too similar (repetitive build) - the back of the second passenger car could have been designed to match the front engine train's sleek and fairly current look. I somehow get the feeling that the end passenger car was left in a previous station somewhere particularly when the train is moving. 😮 But overall, am happy with this set (could have been overjoyed if it included an updated 'caboose').

I bought it for my 7 years old son and it’s really nice. He loves it. I would like to recommend that instead of batteries which run out really quick, the train can be rechargeable. Batteries gone really quick.

I bought this train set for my 6 year-old as a Christmas gift and he's been having lots of fun with it ever since. He was able to build it mostly on his own without too much help from me except for connecting the motor and cables for the lights. He loves the lights and using the remote control for the speed of the train! We've only had it derail once so far even despite his various scenarios involving speeding trains and collisions with things. One minor issue is that it seemed like we received an incorrect part for building the boarding platform, but we've requested the missing piece and it hasn't affected our ability to play with it

We're sorry to hear you had to pause your build and are glad you got in touch to let us know. Your requested parts will ship from Denmark and you'll be back to building in no time!
Finally! A new better-than-ever train!

I enjoyed this new product, with the first brick built nose since ages ago, and WORKING DOORS ( the issue with older trains is they didn't have doors or a tardis!). The station has loads more detail than stations before but... Maybe next time we could have a level crossing or a bike crossing to spice things up a bit! Also, the lights are cool, yet I'd rather have a longer station or a level crossing instead and have the lights optional. Overall though, brilliant set. P. S. I love that you're adding paper bags to sets and I'd love for that to be true for all, thanks!

I bought this to add a train to my city’s empty tracks I have going through it. I love the colors used on this train, they’re much sharper when built than how it looks on the box. I’m not a fan of the front of the engine, but I’m well aware these are designed in Europe, so I expect the nose of the engine to look like this. I did replace the front headlights with different colored bricks because I wasn’t a fan of the blueish color, as seen in the photos. All in all, a pretty good set.

This is an excellent buy which I bought for my six year old son. With a little guidance, my son managed to build this set for himself without too many issues. Now fully assembled, both my 11 and six-year-old are now fighting to play with it. The train comes with a controller, however you can also download an app which has sound effects and control functions.
