This was my first serious lego set - I have build a few with my son but they were much smaller. This peace was tough to build as the base part of the tree can be complicated to maneuver as you are completing the upper section but do not let that deter you - this is a beautiful set. i have added this to my office space and i have received several comments already. If you are hesitant to take the leap, do not afraid this is well worth the time and money. Enjoy your build, cheers!
Extremely difficult and upsetting :(

I got this set to match with the "lucky bamboo" set. I loved the frogs for the pink leaves and I was extremely excited. To build it, this excitement was short lived. The base was easy and then you get to the tree, the trunk sits on a hinged base that popped apart every time you touch something. The instructions are muddy and you can't tell which pieces to use. It comes with two rubber "vines"? That when you put them on it pops apart the connecting peice on the back and in order to put it back on you have to take off the side. Everything falls apart when you try to attach anything. The instructions for the leaves are extremely confusing and you can't put any of the leaves on without the trunk snapping in two. It also has you do the steps in a weird order, I had to dump the "rocks" out of the base so I could continue building the trunk. It's extremely top heavy and extremely wobbly, the trunk feels very unstable. It took my 2+ hours to build, 3 crying seasons, and I gave up before finishing. I wouldn't get this set for yourself or a friend.

All in all, it was an okay build. I had heard it was a somewhat difficult build and found it pretty simple, completing in a couple of hours. The other disappointment I had was how bare it was only putting on the branches they recommended. I installed more on the side clips, now it's full. It was fun, but not near as difficult as I was hoping.

It looks real, love it! A lot of fun to do! I prefer to keep the green branches.

Building the blossom branches was the most infuriating thing ever, the instructions were horrific at that step and I genuinely considered throwing it in the bin but I eventually finished the set

I wanted to just bring this to everyone's attention that the cherry blossoms version should be called the pink frog tree. I am upset that they used frogs in this when they have a mold for buds. I absolutely hate frogs. I wish they had something else. Also I thought the piece would be more time consuming based on the amount of pieces, but 200 of those are just used as loose pieces that you put around the tree. Also 101 of the pieces are frogs! Like why frogs?! I did like building the green bonsai version though, but that one was a lot simpler than the frog version, which was upsetting

Exactly what the title says. This set caught on so quickly for good reason. Building it is fun, there are parts that that are unique and inspiring (like the shield pieces used to slant the tree or the soil pieces being loose), and it looks simple but elegant as a decoration. Shoutouts to Nick Vas not only for this specific design but for all of the other models he made that are featured in the instruction book. I feel inspired.
So pretty

Building this took me way longer than it needed to mainly due to how fragile the design is. After getting close to the end multiple times, the trunk would fall apart and it would set me back another 10 minutes. However, after finally finishing it, I am very happy with the way it looks.

This can't support its own weight. The two different configurations seemed neat, but touching it delicately will cause it to fall apart, let alone trying to exert the exact right amount of pressure to remove a branch end without making the whole trunk fall apart.

A very fun build that took just around 4 casual hours. Beautifully designed and it looks fantastic on my mantle between my collection of sake bottles. The leaves are, by far, the most time consuming part and a little bit tedious, but the end result is well worth it.
Very fun!

Received this as a Christmas gift. It was simple step by step. A little fragile as the build continues. All and all a fun little build.

It’s a good sized kit, well thought out and put together except for one thing. While following the instructions/pictograms for brick layout , I think the use of white lines instead of the usual black to show individual brick layout would have sped up the process and make it simpler to identify brick placement. It’s also nice to know I can change the canopy during spring
Not as challenging!

The bonsai tree is very cute. It is not for 18+, my niece (14) got one and I gave my son(9) one as well for Christmas. They both build their own in less than 1 hour.

I received this product as a gift. I enjoy customizing my legos and enjoying them as a building toy. I thought I would do so with this set, and customize it to look like it was a tree in the winter, by removing the leaves and slightly extending the branches with brown blocks. Unfortunately, this set falls apart so easily that customization is impossible. I spent hours trying to make my slight variation on their instructions, but the design of the set is such that you can't change it whatsoever without encountering immediate and unavoidable structural failure. This set is an affront to the design of the lego sets I grew up with, which were engineered to be customized and enjoyed. I dismantled this set for parts and won't be reconstructing this garbage design. Quality control was out sick on the day this design was greenlighted.

The choice of colors used in the instruction book was very poor. Hard to tell exactly which piece was to be used and where it went from the pictures. The pictures were not clear at all.

Thank you for letting us know you had some difficulty with the instructions. We’re sorry it’s not quite how you’d like it, but your feedback will help us make improvements in future sets.
